polenta with stufado this evening. mmm. and too much red wine. i am feeling homey and antisocial. and stressed. i hate that i do this to myself. the upcoming music service at church is chewing on my nerves. i blame the choir. or, certain members. every time we have a music service (this is my 5th), there are some members who doubt my choice of music. they doubt their own abilities, they doubt the beauty and appropriateness of the music etc etc. they've always been wrong. but every time i get scared all over again. it would suck if they were right. and i feel more insecure about this one. usually the winter music is christmas-themed. this year, i decided to go with chanukah music for something new and different. there's a lot of great music for chanukah. and i threw in some other great jewish music for good measure. some people aren't pleased. they can fuck off. i've had too much wine. and i'm stressed.

i am sure that you have made all the right choices - i'd definitely trust you if i were in the choir. i understand it getting under your skin, but like you said above, you've always made the right decisions, so i'm sure it's going to be fine now. i'm sorry members are giving you a hard time. :::hugs:::

well, we're supposed to call it a service. :) there will be prayers and readings and such. also, it's on the north shore, so i don't expect any of the valley-ites to submit themselves to my bi-weekly trek.

oh and yes, i'm the conductor. am here at the church as i type. ::sigh::

I think it's really cool that you chose to do Chanukah music. And I bet you dollars to doughnuts (mmm, doughnuts) that the service will be wonderful and well-received. I wish your choir members were more psyched about doing something new and different, but it takes some folks longer than others to be comfortable with change. And till then, they can just suck it up. :-)

What is it with these people who have been with you for four fucking amazing music services, not to mention fabulous music every single week throughout a year and a half, and still don't trust your judgement and talent and their own ability to rise to the occasion for and with you? Bastards. Lemme at 'em; I'll take 'em! ::grumbles:: I, for one, have no doubt in my mind that you will pull it off with your usual grace and aplomb and finesse and that people'll be talking about it for weeks - and those skeptical dumbasses right there with everyone else. And so indeed, they can fuck off.
