wot wot? if no one's around to rescue distract me, i'm going to have to work on the Story Of Death before i go to work. heeeeeelp!

i'm always distracted by music. i say this because just now i had stopped writing and was just listening for a good 5 minutes. i've never been able to do anything that requires much focus while there's music playing. it makes me think of what used to happen wednesday evenings in grad school. we had conducting class til 5 and then rehearsal at 7 so sometimes we'd all go out to dinner (when R, A, M and i didn't run off by ourselves before anyone noticed). there was a thai restaurant we all liked. they always had a completely random mix of music on... and our table of 10ish people was completely ruled by it. we would stop in the middle of conversations to sing or dance along. a slow, sad song would subdue us all of a sudden and then conversation and laughter would pick up with a peppier tune. once we noticed this, we found it hilarious but we couldn't do anything about it.

and see, now this song is making me nostalgic for that group of people... and really i detested half of them.

that's right, Slashers Against the War

a lovely little chat with [livejournal.com profile] antheia resulted in that ever-important question: why the hell not?

the big protest is going down in nyc saturday the 15th. round trip buses from boston are a mere $30 (there are western mass buses too ($20)! i have info if anyone wants). we all like to rant and mope in our journals. why not get out there and shout? let our snarky voices be heard! so, who's with us??? leave a comment for [livejournal.com profile] antheia or me and we'll figure it out. and witty slashy anti-war slogans and posters are, of course, welcome.

really long bus info for bostonians - i haven't read all this but there should be ample info here if you need it )

somehow i knew that the 'no, you didn't get the job' letter would come today. a lovely form letter with a special hand scrawled 'thank you for meeting with me' note on it. ah yes, the personal touch. makes one feel so much better - the way it's a more personal rejection and all.

fuck that.

well, just as i had started down that well-traveled road to despair... two things showed up in my inbox that turned me back...

an e-mail from a choir member to the organist and me ... so sweet )

and some slashy anti-war slogans from [livejournal.com profile] suckeriove that have me giggling madly:

"Make Smut, Not War"
"Bush is Sauron, Save the Shire"
"War is Worse that Hetsmut"
"WWDD? - What Would Dumbledore Do?"

i particularly love the third option. heehee.

unfortunately, that e-mail, in all it's 'thanks for doing all this work without getting paid for it' sweetness, still contains the reminder that, right, i'm not getting paid. i'm kind of freaking out right now. as i probably should be.

help?
