the book i got to review post-tonal analysis is great. clear, concise (so far), and has handy review exercises at the end of each chapter.
but with NO ANSWER KEY. fer cryin' out loud, this is a graduate level book, why would they not give the answers? now how to i know if i'm right?
annelarissa? do you have a post-tonal exam? will you tell me if i'm right?
man.
and you know i'm procrastinating when i have a thought like, i really need to swiffer the kitchen floor. right NOW.

Date: 2005-08-12 03:32 pm (UTC)the book, which is actually fairly dry - it's just well-organized and to the point, is introduction to post-tonal theory by joseph straus. the first chapter, a review of basic concepts, was awesome. in that i think i grasped it all. but i wish i had those frickin answers!
the worst book ever, however, is the book i got for schenker. it reminds me of my horrible theory classes at bu. it's boring, rambly and pompous. i hate it. i'm never going to learn schenker omgi'mgoingtofail!!!
freaking out? me?
