the book i got to review post-tonal analysis is great. clear, concise (so far), and has handy review exercises at the end of each chapter.

but with NO ANSWER KEY. fer cryin' out loud, this is a graduate level book, why would they not give the answers? now how to i know if i'm right?

i just ran into the same problem in my IPA book! what's the point in completing 3 pages of exercises [Eks 3r saI z3z] if i can't check my work? blah.

i do indeed have a 20th c analysis test- it's the one that i'm fearing the most. my undergraduate class was dreadful (well, it was fun, really- the professor just talked and told stories and played music and told us not to take notes but just absorb) and i retain nothing. the book i'm using to study is really more history than analysis and is drier than dust. the other exams are many, and they aren't nearly as scary, so i'm preparing for those.

what's this amazing not-dry 20th c book that you are reading? maybe i should try to get my paws on a copy.

and procrastination? think maybe that's why i was so motivated this morning that i scrubbed the bathroom and rearranged my jewelery box? yup.
