the service i missed at the noho UU church yesterday was, like, written exactly for me. and, you know, all of you. my paraphrase of the write up: fandoms; the good and the bad and how they affect and interact with real life. no kidding. damn, i wish i hadn't missed it.

driving J and A home from the tomato festival yesterday, i got to talking HP with A. she's a big fan, more than i realized. and we talked in a fairly geeky manner, picking at some details. but it was SO HARD to do this without talking about slashy things. erg. and i don't know, i might be willing to tell her about slash... i wasn't yesterday, not while driving with the wind blowing in my ear and making me have to shout half of what i was saying. but J and A are the most wholesome little folks i know. i have no idea at all what their reactions would be... especially since they love HP. if they didn't care, well, they probably wouldn't care. but as they do care, i could see A being weird and judgmental. she's kind of like that.

i just saw a guy run through the funeral home parking lot and in through the 'flower' door. now, why would someone at a funeral home have to run?

i put way too much olive oil in the tomato sauce i made (and froze in ice cube trays like [livejournal.com profile] camillafarfalla taught me to) last night. as a result, it was the best frickin sauce i have ever made. omigoodness is it good. i'm sure the very fresh, very yummy tomatoes had a part in it too.

i just got to a certain point - when i finally got over the shame and then the embarrasment etc - when i figure there was no reason not to tell people.

Yes, yes, yes. I think the first RL person I told about my slash obsession was [livejournal.com profile] scottxwl--seeing as he maintains a website devoted to lesbian subtext on Xena, however, it wasn't too much of a risk. ;-) I also told my mom recently, in a very casual manner: when that Boston Globe Magazine article about HP fanfic came out, she gave it to me because she knows I'm into the books, and we discussed it a bit, with me mentioning offhand, "well, when I first got into slash, it was all about Smallville," etc., and then explaining the whole concept of slash... and she was totally cool with it. But yeah, I don't tell the people I work with, or some of my other friends. I did introduce [livejournal.com profile] holdenrevisited to slash, though! Another success story, as she now sees the slash everywhere!
