i had yet another rehearsal last night. for my friend's recital. definitely not the passion. and ham was there, trying to be helpful. however. there are only three sopranos in the group and, at ham's suggestion, one switched to alto. and then he couldn't stop trying to coach the remaining two of us. "open up on the high notes." "sing the high stuff louder." "round out those high notes, they sound shrill." there was no pleasing him. i was very close to shouting, "hey, you know what? i just spent a week rehearsing and performing the freaking st. matthew. and last night drinking gin fizzes. nothing you say is going to perk up my voice right now, so shut it."
i didn't, though. i just sang dutifully. this is the outside of the church where we rehearsed. i wanted a good picture of the stained glass but didn't quite get it. it just strikes me as so very colorado. a new-looking stained-glass setting of waiving wheat, mountains and sky. pretty, but something you'd never see in, say, new england.
in other news:
-i've been spending too much time reading
lamardeuse's fraser/kowalski. just because i haven't before and it's extremely satisfying stuff.
-i am inordinately pleased with myself for having written and posted two little ficcish things this week. yay me. (here and here)
-rachael's mother is visiting this weekend. this makes me a little nervous. not the easiest house guest.
-i just changed the background image on my lj layout from flowers to stripes. it may be a little busy, but i am totally digging it right now.
-i am in a futzing around place but, hi, i haven't done my homework for tonight's symposium yet. yikes.
-when i said i had forgotten a lot about hp book 6, i was not kidding. yesterday, i had this thought while listening: "right! that's who the half blood prince was!"
-in conclusion, ( striped underpants? )
