damn good thing i went. thanks,
gemmi_1 and others, for the encouragement.
friday night was good times. not so many people there, but a fairly high concentration of people i like. shannon, emily, judy and i - we studied abroad in senegal together - reunited. they are amazing women. we went to the huke lau (cheezy hawaiian themed bar) and drank and sang karaoke. emily and i slaughtered holding out for a hero. it was so good just to be with them.
today was the alumnae parade, picnic, hanging out at the queer house.
an observation about my college friends: they are hot. seriously good lookin' ladies. no wonder i miss mhc so much. there is not such a high concentration of babes in the public at large. they are also smart, witty, funny and have all their politics in the right place.
see, i knew the hard part about reunion would be the leaving again. a brief reminder of how good we had it, then we all have to leave it behind again. it was interesting... there was a higher level of honesty this time than at the two year... we could really talk about what mhc meant to us and how much we miss it. we weren't trying to prove how we were moving on in the world. it was nice to just admit how much we miss life there and how damned lucky we were to have spent four years there and to have known each other.
yeah, i love my alma mater. and the suckiness of grad school just brought that home even more clearly. i wish every woman could know the wonder that is mount holyoke. sounds melodramatic and cheezy, but it's heartfelt.
i have a little more thinking to do about all this... but it's late and i got to get to church in the a.m.
