yesterday, i did a big lot of nothing. well, i got my inbox under 100 messages. finally. i usually try to keep my inbox at 10 messages max but for some reason, it exploded toward the end of last semester and i just haven't been able to get it back down again. but i'm on my way now. so that's something. but then at a random moment in the afternoon, i was seized with the urge to go shoe shopping. so off i went to my friendly neighborhood payless (that's right, i buy cheap-ass shoes. it's where the vegans go, man). and lo, not only did i find a pair of awesome tweed-ish pumps, but i found a shiny red bag! i have been looking all over for the right shiny red bag for months. and there it was, at a payless 9 blocks from my house. and. it was bogo, so it only cost $9. that was a pleasant random shopping experience.

also yesterday i watched some s3 dr. who. i like martha. she's gorgeous and has a great ass as well as being a generally likable character. but omg, if the little doctor pining for rose moments don't stop soon, i might DIE. also, if they stop, i will DIE. so. no win, really.

and i typed in the e-mail addressed of incoming students who are interested in choir who i have to e-mail and encourage to audition. i already have a favorite. her addy is "loony4lupin." which is so much more awesome than all the soprano2007s or singergirl88s. there were a lot of 88s. does this mean that that is the year they were born? because... holy crap.

i plan to do more inbox cleanout over the next few days, so... there could be random comment catch up coming your way. or not. sometime when i goes this long, i let myself not answer. not for lack of love, just lack of sanity.

weekend goals:
-acquire bigger hammock stand
-shop for groomswoman dress
-clean the house
-go to water world
-finish chuppah sqaure (so close!)
-etc.

I'd have expected there to be a lot of 89s with a smattering of 88s--and, yes, those are the years in which the incoming freshmen are most likely to have been born. I started college in the fall of 1997 and was born in 1979, so add ten.

And holy crap, indeed.

I'm with you on the inbox; I like mine at 5 or fewer, but...goals don't always equal reality.

hmm. you started college the year i graduated. but 88/89? that makes me feel ancient. which, really, is for the good since these kids will be my students this year. best to feel older and (::snicker::) wiser. :)

Those kids will be my students next week. Eep. Though were I teaching HS seniors straight out of a BA, there'd be a much smaller age difference, it's still kind of...something. Awe-ing? Intimidating?

You are not ancient. You are sage.

intimidating for sure. i'm totally intimidated. excited, too. and, really, for me there's some relief here. for the last two years, i was doing this with a choir full of people my age, at my level, while my prof looked on. now, i'll be on my own with people who are significantly younger. phew. still scary, but in a different way.

ooh! shiny! i like the red bag lots. and mmm, tweed pumps! i just got my first september fashion mags in the mail. rich fall makeup! and fall fashion hot list!... it's coming! ::anticipates fall::

and okay, yes, i might actually think the pining moments are the best thing about season 3. he kills me ded. also- have you watched "blink" yet? just a warning- watch it during the daytime. possibly when you're not alone in the house. for me, it was scarier than conversations with dead people and that was on a sunny sunday afternoon with a sweetie to hide behind. so you've been warned. scary. but good.

::huggles::

You've got a few trips around the sun on me...but even with a 6-7 year age difference (if I've got seniors) the kids don't get my jokes or pop culture references.

My sport conditioning instructor from the rec center is taking my music lit class. The master has now become the apprentice.

that happened even when i was still in college. i remember when my a cappella group sang at a first-year orientation concert when we made some joke about ralph macchio and were met with confused silence. that's what? a three year difference?

sigh.

I'd forgive them that one because his visible film career spanned...3 years? Has he done anything since "Crossroads?" But just remember, encyclopedic knowledge of pop culture minutae makes you better than them.
