ok. first requested topic:

oh, kristi, you're totally smart! what's a better post topic than porn? the question for me is how to approach the topic... hm.

first, i will talk about my own porn. in a numbered list.

1. there is not very much porn by me. slash was the first fiction writing i did at all. it was - still is - hard to do. and porn? that is wicked hard to do. well, at least it is for me.

2. here are the things i've written that i consider porny:

-watching. a tiny harry/draco ficlet with implied porniness. not remotely explicit.
-not for him and seeker. harry/ron ficlets (part of a series with starbuckle, holy crap that was a long time ago) which were totally jossed and are kind of porny.
-quiet, sequel to never tell. ron/goyle that's just a bit porny.
-blue. a remix. and i added the porn! harry/ron. i consider this legitimately porny, even if most of the story is not porn.
-hermione/ginny drabble. again with the hints at porn.
-sirius/remus unfinished. weirdly, i never wrote (well, finished) any sirius/remus porn. the three major s/r fics i wrote are all very PG-PG13. sad. there was one i worked on for... years? it wasn't long or anything, i just could never get it down. and it was basically a blow job fic. that was all there was to it. except it was an EMOTIONALLY SIGNIFICANT blow job. and it remains unfinished. sad.
-the frustratingly untitled dom/ron crossover of wackiness. real porn! in one chapter, anyway. at the time i wrote it, i thought it was awful and just posted it bc i wanted to keep moving through the story. now i think it's not so bad.
-random will/bran scene. the only dir i've written. fluffy porn, if it counts as porn at all.

AND THEN! there was due south. something about due south makes me just want to be more porny.
-first there was sleepy morning comment porn.
-then there was the next just sky. which is... more sleepy morning porn.
-and then there was something to rest upon. which contains what i believe to be my longest and most detailed sex scene.

3. hm. why is due south instantly pornier? is it because i am older and wiser and more comfy with the porn? or is there something else... something like CALLUM KEITH RENNIE? because OMG how could you not want porn when one of the characters looks like him? i ask you.



when it comes to reading porn... well. i don't have all that much to say about it. the thing is, i just want it to be well written. and - most of the time, anyway - about characters i care about. it doesn't matter how hot the situation is if it's not well written. sad, but true. and it doesn't matter how banal the situation if it's written well enough. thank goodness that so many of you out there are AMAZING porn writers. really, you enrich my life.

and now i ask myself, what is my favorite porn ever? and i think that is an impossible question. a couple of you have probably been around long enough to know calico's sabotage. that lives on for me as a heroic feat of porn-writing. i mean, really. i don't think i've ever encountered anything else that was that good for that long. whew.

but i think my current favorite is (surprise) in due south. brooklinegirl's a state of mind that no one knows. i could barely breath the first time i read this. and i read it again right away. it's just... well. first of all, the integrating of the sex with what we know and what she shows us about their characters is just virtuosic. fraser with a kink is an inherently hot idea. fraser with this kink is extra hot. and, if one happens to have a similar kink and one reads this... well. yeah. i'll stop there. but yes, this is my favorite porn. ♥
