a kitty awaited me as i returned home from running some errands yesterday. she than ran out of the house when i opened the door. which she's been doing more and more lately. she's an indoor kitty and we do not encourage the running out of the house. fortunately, so far she only runs about 10 feet before she seems to get spooked or something and freezes. and i pick her up and bring in while she hisses and snarls and tries to bite me. it's a great relationship we have.

i have a couple more pictures from yesterday.

we try to go to the gym when rach gets out of work but that often makes for a very late dinner if we don't start cooking 'til we get back. so i was my own prep cook and did all the chopping for the meal before we left. vegetables are so pretty!

and they (plus a bunch of baby spinach and spices and broth and stuff) became this. moroccan tagine with spring vegetables over whole wheat couscous. it was very tasty. and will be again when i eat it for lunch, i imagine.

while i cooked, rachael pulled up weeds in the back yard. one of which was this. look at the root! is that the longest thing you've ever seen or what? and with just that tiny little green thing on top! crazy. chloe seems to think so too.

How did you learn to cook?

(Sorry if that's a weird question; it's just one of those things I tend to have intense curiousity about.)

i've just learned by doing. i'm a vegan, so i had to sort of figure out how to feed myself in a lot of situations. and i have about a thousand cookbooks. i can follow a recipe and it makes it look like i can cook. :) this meal is from vegan with a vengeance (http://www.theppk.com/veganwithavengeance.html) which is fabulous.

I figured as much. I keep hoping someone will have a magic pill allowing me to learn by osmosis. Oh, well. :) And thanks!

scary! i've been noticing our second floor screens are coming away from their frames and i'm afraid of a very similar scenario.
