watched priest. feeling mildly guilty about having thoughts like mmm.gaysex. and linus roache sure is purdy. because the movie's not so much about that stuff really. no, it's a heavy movie. in fact, i kind of think that's it's main issue. it's so heavily laden with deep thoughts to ponder, it loses it's sense of purpose somewhere in there. is it about this one man's struggle? is it about the catholic church? is it about faith? and i have other burning questions... was that the first time father greg went to a gay bar and had sex and all that? what brought about the sudden change of heart? did everyone know about the other priest and the housekeeper? why was that ok? and yeah, what is this movie about?
anyway, it's a sad sad movie. also, i disagree with the hyper-evil-ness of the evil man. it made things too clear and simple to have him that evil. and also the badness of the bishop. life ain't like that usually. the bishop could have done exactly what he did and still be a good catholic and a decent person with struggles of his own. yeah.
babblebabble. all that said, i love that movie. i remember hearing that it was significantly cut for american audiences. sad. maybe it's a better movie uncut. yes, apparently the sex is much more explicit in the other version too. that right there would make it worth seeing.
