hey, do you suppose there's a connection between the Mrs. Figg mentioned in SS and the Arabella Figg mentioned at the end of GoF?

ooh ooh! yes! i read this lil (or actually very long) fic in which mrs. figg is indeed arabella fig, and was formerly head of slytherin house until the rise of voldemort, at which time she retired because she kind of decided it was her fault that so many slytherins had gone over to the dark side -- she'd been too strict with them or something... that was the first time i'd noticed the figg connection .. and of course, arabella fig has a great fondness for cats. but wouldn't it be great, if she had been placed as a next door neighbor by dumbledore to watch over the wee harry bairn?

apparently everyone had already thought of this but me. oh well. it was exciting for me to have the thought.

I think that was confirmed by JKR in some sort of interview or somesuch.

It's hearsay to me, but I really think there is. I know I've heard more than one person say they saw/read the part where she said they were the same person.
