grr. my internet (rather, the internet i'm bootlegging, as mine doesn't work at all) has crapped out again. but i'll write this now and post later because i need to sit here by the fan for a while anyway.
i spoke a little soon about the weather. it's hot now. still sunny and dry, but hot.
i had two fun coincidences recently. first when i bumped into one of my soon-to-be professors in a store. odd and unexpected, it was, but pleasant. and then this morning my plan was to call and check out prices for piano tuning and upkeep but i ended up going with the first guy i called when we had this conversation:
me: i just moved my piano from massachusetts to denver and...
him: i'm from massachusetts!
me: really? cool.
him: yeah, i was born in lynn.
me: me too!
him: [many chatty, cute old man things]
me: you're hired! see you tuesday!
other than that call, a hair appointment and some grocery shopping, my main accomplishment today was unpacking our linen closet. which actually includes all linens, coats, clothes we don't wear frequently, bags, purses, cleaning supplies, bike stuff, cords and cables, stuffed animals, the pink christmas tree, sporting goods, etc. so, yes, it took most of the day. but now it's rather orderly and i feel reasonably good about the way i spent my time.
now i think i will go make a potato salad. or i could put together the second bar stool so we wouldn't have to keep eating on the couch. hmmm... so many exciting options.
it works, precious! it works. and shoot, my potatoes are boiling!

Date: 2005-07-29 02:59 pm (UTC)The contents of your "linen" closet cracked me up - it's like a cartoon!
And look at you being rewarded for what looks to be your continued efficiency by only having to make one piano tuner call! :) Born in Lynn?! Crazy! Also, new hair person?! eep. Good luck!
::hugs::

Date: 2005-08-01 04:06 pm (UTC)hee. it is a rather large closet, i feel compelled to point out. and all of that seems like it will actually fit in there. how impressive is that?
further coincidences about the piano tuner - my mom knew someone with his name! which is boratgis, so not terribly common. and i didn't mention before that one of the reasons i called him first was that his name looked greek and i thought it was interesting because you don't see many greek names around here, whereas there are a ton of them in lynn and swampscott. :) funny.
