we're here. and, as mentioned by our landlord, we are able to freeload wireless from the house. :) our connection should be set up sometime today, so i don't feel too bad about some temporary... borrowing.

so, yeah. we made it. alxamdulilaah. we got into town around 6 last night. E's brother met us and dropped off our plants (alive! they made it too! a couple broken pots but that's no big) and sleeping bags from the trunk since stella peed on ours in the car. we went to home depot to get some screening which we tacked into some of the upstairs windows so we could have air without losing the cats. and we picked up our take out to eat on the floor of the empty apartment - a tradition. and then we slept in the room we intend to be our bedroom, on top of two sleeping bags with a fan directly on us. it was pretty stuffy up there after the windows had been closed for weeks. but it's cool and nice this morning. and the cats seem much happier with some space to run around in. stella even brought up one of her toys and dropped it on the bed. she always did that in the other place but it's even cuter here because she must have carried it all the way up the stairs. i'm so happy the kitties are here with us. really, they provide and unexpected level of comfort.

we listened to 5 discs of HBP. i think that takes us up to chapter 6. i can't wait to get the actual book and start reading, and check out what other people have thought about it. yis.

off to the shower now. E's brother shows up in an hour or so and the movers should be here at 9. exciting times. and, truly, i'm looking forward to slightly less exciting times.

Welcome home. I'm so happy/relieved to hear you've landed safely. re wireless: before you get your own setup going, see if you can find out which channel(s) your neighbors are using. You may be able to find this by poking around your own pc's connection while it's active. The goal is to get your own setup running on a channel well separated from the neighbors'. Better for everyone.
