+last night, rach and i ventured into springfield (the nearest thing to us that could be rightfully called a city) and ate vietnamese food. yay! oh, vietnamese food, i have missed you so. ::rubs tummy:: this area has more sushi restaurants than any of us can figure out what to do with, but we have to drive a half hour down the highway for some lemongrass tofu.

it was well worth the effort. ::rubs tummy some more:: i think one of the very best things about living in harvard square was being so close to pho pasteur. mmmmpho pasteur.

+i have yet again broken my no wip rule (is there a point to having a rule i break this often? yeah, i don' tknow) by reading the first two chapters of

willysunny's standing at the edge of the universe. (chapter 1. chapter 2.) it's harry potter/peter parker!!! which means there is no chance i wouldn't be reading it. and it's fantabulous so far. right up my wooby alley. or so it looks from this point. and of course, it brings back happy memories of the days when i was obsessed with the idea of peter parker/elijah wood (see icon).

+i am looking forward to karaoke fun tonight. ok, that's a bit of a lie. i kind of hate karaoke. mostly because i suck at it. and, seeing as i sing and all, people always expect me to be good at it. so then there's pressure and then i suck more. i don't know why i suck. i think it has a little something to do with the fact that the songs are always pitched low, for the non-singer-types. and i have no low voice. and something more to do with singing into a microphone - something i never do. besides that, it's probably nerves. maybe i'll pop some beta blockers before we go.*

+computer update: i am using rach's old, malfunctioning computer for the moment. it runs IE ok, but can't run a lot of other things, like word, without crashing. hrm. it'll do for now. and i'll take my computer in for fixing this week. wah.

+can i just say, i don't want to hear one more bleeping thing about the bleeping pope. it's sick, people, sick to be reporting on every last minute detail of his failing health as though it were ground-breaking news. ew! if it were catholic radio or something, fine, but i expect better judgment from npr. this, on the heels of people's digusting behavior around terri shciavo, has me thoroughly frustrated with even my usual news sources.

*omg, kidding! i'm just going to drink heavily. :)
