i love firefox so far because TABS! yis.

and i love all of you who have suggested things to read. thank you thank you. and feel free to make more suggestions. seriously, man, don't hold back. :)

especially because ::sniff:: my baby's leaving me! ok, not really. she's going away to virginia for two days. don't everybody come rushing over with food and company though because if i can't have my lady with me, then i'm kind of happy to have some phin-alone-in-the-house time. that should last til about... bedtime. so, yeah. i have to drive her to the airport in just over an hour. ... ::clings::

this is nerdier than i thought i would be, really. because it seems you're only a nerd if you're a science/math nerd. it doesn't count that i sat in calculus class with the story of english tucked inside my math textbook. tell this to the people who mocked me in my youth. no, i wasn't too heavily mocked. but the true nerds were my dear friends. and so i feel some bond and some identification. perhaps this is a nerd v. geek thing. i understand there is some empirical definition of geek too, but i tend to think one can be a ____ geek. where ____ can be english or music or knitting or whatever. whatever one spends inordinate amounts of time thinking about.*

*and i don't mind the occasional dangling preposition because in one of the books i read about the history of the english language, i learned about how there was this one guy who tried to impose latin grammatical rules onto english and they were really arbitrary and made no particular difference in meaning etc and the rule about dangling prepositions was one of those. i usually avoid it because it sounds bad to my ear but when it is far more awkward to avoid it than to do it, well... i'm a rebel, what can i say.

and no, i've never learned good comma usage. why?

I was disappointed at being ranked a low-level nerd. I agree with you that nerds should come from every field. There was no question on the test asking me if I was teaching myself Homeric Greek, which I am. How could anything possibly be nerdier than that?

Hah! See, that should make you a super-nerd! I'm not quite as familiar with the New Testament greek, but my impression was that it's just as far as the Homeric from anything resembling modern Greek. Hence, the fact that I already know Cyrillic- from learning Russian- doesn't do me a bit of good with either one.

Hey, you just never know when you might need to haul out the Greek. A girl I grew up with studied ancient Greek and Hebrew at seminary and I would have LOVED to be able to recite the Lord's Prayer to her in nt Greek!
