11 degrees today out here in the berkshires. of course, i'm just believing what i've heard as i, personally, am still wearing pyjamas and have not ventured forth from rach's mother's house all the livelong day. which suits me absolutely fine.

i just organized my favorites. alxamdulilaah. well, mostly. i still have this one folder titled, 'hp slash' that desperately needs attention. but that's a day's organizing unto itself.

yesterday my grad school friend rachel (the one i visited in boulder in april) came through the area and we spent four hours in a pittsfield thai restaurant talking about everything. it was so good. some things, particularly related to grad school, have now rearranged themselves in my head. this is very good. also, she's just great and i miss her.

right now rach and her mom are both out and it's blissfully quiet in here. i think i will use this time to sort through some paperwork i brought along, read some more of my book and take a shower.

also, random fannish content: this firefly vid (thistledown tears) is absolutely gorgeous.

You got the book! I love that book, as you may know. In fact, I've been planning to take a look through it this week to find some helpful suggestions for the recent bout of "forgetfulness" that has gripped our household.

Hope you're enjoying your holiday break time.

this book is a minor miracle. thank you so much for the rec. i mean, clearly i have not had time to apply the advice yet, but it feels like they are talking directly to me about my specific behaviors and inner dialogue. also, i can't remember whether i've ever mentioned flylady to you, but it was the only organizing system that ever worked for me and it has a lot in common with their suggestions so far. even shares some terms like the CHAOS thing. which is something i so completely identify with. anyway, yes. reading it is comforting, frustrating (in that i'm being shown my own unhelpful patterns) and hopeful.
