we spent a good day and a half cleaning and rearranging our sadly disastrous apartment. i daresay that by the time guests began to arrive, no one would have guess that it closely resembled a pig sty just a day before.

my dad came next, with some more chairs and some big hugs. he was followed by my mom and E who hit nasty holiday traffic on their way. still, they arrived with no fewer than 5 delicious pies. and still more chairs and other such practical items.
so, with our unturkey and potatoes and gravy and stuffing and roasted onions and green beans and buttery rolls and chocolate pie... there was a hell of a lot of food.
and after anney and i sang a little thanksgiving tune, we all dug in.
rachael is generous, and shared her food with us all.
when i got too full, i had to lean on my dad for support.
we ate until we could barely move. and then we went for a walk. it was cold and rainy, but we persisted. i wish i had a picture of this, since we looked pretty funny, each of us with his or her own umbrella, wandering the paved paths of the cemetery. when we got back we were frozen, but soon warmed up and were ready for dessert.
there were 6 pies and two sweetbreads, some peanut butter cups and some ice cream. it put most of us over the edge.
after dessert, we just wanted to lie around.
but we did end up playing a game of trivial pursuit that lasted over three hours and was narrowly won by the team of people wearing black pants.
all in all, it was a great day. bounteous good food and absolutely delightful company. i love my family and my friends and i'm so glad i got to spend yesterday with some of them. ::hearts::
