hrm. i'm acting like i'm on vacation. really, i should be heading into the intense thanksgiving prep phase of the week already. we have not given near enough thought to that yet. but when rach gets back from class, we will sit down and make lists and schedules and such.

this morning i went for my shrink-requested blood test. not much too it except not eating in the morning. bleh. not eating (and omg not drinking coffee!) in the morning is not my friend. but i treated myself to rao's latte and a bagel afterward so now all is well. the woman who drew my blood was the chattiest thing ever. i wonder if she was trying to distract me from the pokage. but, dude, it doesn't hurt that much.

i also finished watching my most recent foreign gay film, steam: the turkish bath. i hope the title sounds better in italian. it was... slow. really, the only truly good thing about it for me were the few smoldering looks between the boys and then the 10 second boy on boy action scene. perhaps if i were not watching with the gay in mind i would have enjoyed it more. but once again, so much potential with the pretty boy hotness. i mean, look at these two. wasted potential, man.

so, of movies watched recently, 3 fit in the gay & foreign category:
-the man i love. canadian. not very good but some cuteness.
-the iron ladies. thai. BIZARRE. but enjoyable.
-steam: the turkish bath. italian. best of the three. needs more boy action.

and not in that category:
-the station agent. omg, love, love, LOVE this. and ahaha, i just read the imdb summary: When his only friend dies, a man born with dwarfism moves to rural New Jersey to live a life of solitude, only to meet a chatty hot dog vendor and a woman dealing with her own personal loss. which is completely accurate but does not explain what makes me love it so. i actually don't really know what that is. something about people and making connections. stuff. yeah. also, [livejournal.com profile] emriver needs to see this if he hasn't already because trains!

Aw, I saw The Station Agent on Thursday and I meant to make a post about how much I loved it but I never did. I think it's one of the best films I saw this year.

I loved that movie. The way it sort of ambled quietly through the plot. And the character development that was so organic I didn't even notice that it was happening, but then suddenly *wham*.

And the way there are no real resolutions and just ::sigh::

I watched it one afternoon with RK, and the two of us were just in love with it.

yes to all those things. yes. it's just... it's a movie about real people doing boring or lame or painful real people things but it's beautiful. i love it.

have you tried 'shake it all about'? it's danish - i just watch it the other night and really loved it. the plot could be irksome and contrived, but in the hands of a good director and some very, very fine actors it's rather beautiful and moving.

oh, gosh, i couldn't tell you. i rented it from netflix, which has, like, everything. i did just try a search at blockbuster's online rental service and didn't get any results, though. hm. :\

I think I saw Steam three times. It was worth the price of admission every time just to see Alessandro Gassman stand in doorways and smoke.

And The Station Agent is so good I have nothing at all to say about it.

Hi! Just passing by...
You should watch "Sommersturm". It's a german movie about a boy who experiences his coming out while he is on an excursion with his rowing club. I am not a native english speaker, I hope I made some sort of sense. :-)
