before i return to perusal of the flist, i give myself permission to ramble in an aimless fashion about whatever.
so, yesterday, i went to continuo class for the first time in a while. and, um, the second time ever, now that i think about it. i spent some more time wondering how i never before realized the innate sexiness of countertenor singing. why don't all men sing like that? really, i mean... um. yeah. anney and i sang our duets, which was fun. and i didn't sing my solo but i didn't feel ready to so that was fine with me.
i realized only after leaving the class that the 9th (the day of the class performance) is, in fact, a thursday. the thursday before my choir's music service. and that i will not be able to go. i'm not that sad for my solo but i'm sad to bail out of the duet. wah!
anney had opera rehearsal in the evening so i went to choir alone. ugh. for some stupid reason, the director decided we didn't need to warm up. ick. and then warbly lady sat next to me. singing with her has the opposite effect on my voice from singing with anney. i feel like all of a sudden my voice comes out in thin shreds and i can't make interesting phrases or breathe. whereas singing with anney feels like some kind of magical voice enhancement. so yeah, rehearsal? not so fulfilling.
but, hey, anney! rehearsal slash had a good night. anney and i have been giggling over the potential slashiness of two young guys in the choir. last night, one of them showed up with newly dyed hair (drew). the other one (alex? i can never remember) noticed right away when drew walked in and it was cute! yes. that's what i have to say about that. except that i really want to have a slasher's eye for the potentially queer guy session with each of them. they have much potential for cuteness (and they are cute, only in a really dorky way) but clearly need some help. now that i say that though, everyone in that stinkin' (and that word is a bit too apt) choir could use a little extreme makeover choir edition.
after rehearsal, i peeked in on
annelarissa and
willysunny's opera rehearsal which was just down the hall. i saw the flamenco dancers practicing and then i saw a good crowd scene. as i suspected, anney rocks the shit out of that chorus. if i didn't know better, i'd have said she was a ringer. and willow! i got to hear her shout about confetti. :) also, hi, escamillo? hi.
i think that's all i had to ramble about. it's cold in this house. ::checks the heat::

Date: 2004-11-17 11:23 am (UTC)umyeah. countertenor. it's the most beautiful voice ever. and there'll be a recording of the concert so the crazy Monteverdi piece he's singing can be preserved for always!
concert- i'm sad that you'll not be around, but totally okay with the non-duet. we'll work it up for our own program.
ick. warbly. i feel that way, too. when i'm singing with you it actually makes my throat feel better and my singing feel healthier, while it seems like certain others drain my musical abilities entirely and i can't sing at all. wonder what that's really all about?
eep! choir boys! what color is the hair? and "cute" really? that word? aww.
and thanks. opera thanks. is it awful that i need to hear that sometimes? i considered interrupting choir to prance around in my cute costume, but thought better :)
finally- yeah. hi, escamillo. whew. and he was hardly singing! lemme know about sunday, yes? ::kisses::

Date: 2004-11-17 03:57 pm (UTC)yes, but will there be a close-up video of his mouth while he sings? omg! ::pervs::
we'll work it up for our own program.
ooh. hey. why not?
what color is the hair? and "cute" really? that word? aww.
black. but badly, you can still see some of the real color in the front. hee. it's not a good look for him - washes him out. but i think it's adorable that he did it. and that alex noticed right away! um... cute, yeah. you don't think so?
opera tix - $18 unless you think that's really bad. i can spring for $21 if i should but rach is the better budgeter and is pushing for 18.
also, claire needs someone to videotape a dance thing. the tape would be for an application for something. i suggested possibily scott. does he have his own camera? how do i not know that? anyway, it would be saturday i think, and he should let me know if he's interested.
