how is it i've been up for an hour, showered, coffeed, breakfasted, flisted (ooh, that sounds dirty) and still all i can think about is bed? mmmmmmbed.

thank you to yesterday's poll participants. you overwhelmingly said yes, i should leave this job after this week. my exhausted body agrees with you. the only part that disagrees is my biceps. they are like, dude, we have never been so large or so firm. this is the shit! but my head says warehouse shelves are hard! and my bum knee says carrying heavy boxes makes me owie. and my brain says ... oh wait, nevermind, my brain is dead.

i was the only temp again yesterday. and i was working for the good boss - the one who at least understands that she's giving me shit jobs to do and makes me take breaks and yesterday even let me go early. and gave me a box full of candles. and here is where i admit that i've always enjoyed scented candles. certain scents, anyway. and so, after a wee break from them, i'm sure i'll be glad to have these. though if anyone wants the one called, 'seaside holiday,' you can have it. bleh. i don't like scents that are supposed to be ocean-like.

also, a moment of temping hubris for me. i see now, after working with two other temps, why they (the employers) like me so much. in fact, i am a good temp. the other temps... i just didn't understand why they were so slow and sloppy and inefficient. and it seems funny, considering my general slow laziness in my regular life. but temping... it's like the perfect stage for a problematic perfectionist to live out her tendencies. you're given a task and time to do it in which you cannot to anything else. so, yeah, anyway. previously i wondered how anyone could not be a great temp in brainless jobs like this. now i have seen. an example? temp N and i were in the warehouse for the better part of two days, opening boxes, recording their contents and packing them back up. the first day, i went through 52 boxes, N made it through 14. no joke. i mean, hers may have had more stuff in them... but still. then, come to find out yesterday that she didn't even fill in the list of contents the right way. ? it's all we were doing for 2 days. i don't get it.

hm. i may just have time to print out the longnottom so i can read it on breaks and have some happy moments in my day. ::prints::

yes, see, temping! The good thing about it is that employers have super low expectations. At the last job I had (at which I became permanent) the other temps from my company would do things like:

1. Announce that they had to leave early after one day.
2. Go off for lunch for three hours.
3. Go off for lunch for three hours and come back smellling of boooooze.
4. Steal clients' credit card numbers and charge up a storm.

In this atmosphere, my gentle slacking and occasional pornography production when utterly unremarked.

It constantly amazes me, when I'm temping, just how incompetent other people can be. ;)
