hey, strangers. how very odd that i have not posted in three days. i've been busy but not with terribly serious thing for the most part. on friday i got a very slow start and then had therapy, which generally makes me want to hide from the world. preferably inside rach's sweatshirt. which sounds weirder than i meant it to. and then i worked on my costume. and that's what i did all of saturday. and when i say all of saturday, i mean all of saturday. it was a weird fit of single-mindedness. but also, the longer i worked at it, the more determined i became to finish. and i did. barely in time to run off to the call for our 10 pm concert. and i was arwen. this arwen.

all night i was convinced the dress was about to fall apart. because i don't know how to sew. but it didn't fall apart. i felt very arwen-y and developed a new appreciation for the way liv tyler manages to act like a normal person while surrounded by all that fabric. i could barely walk. the concert was ok. small. annelarissa sang a lovely solo while dressed as a puppy. cuteness.

we went to a party for a while after the concert. 'twas mellow but pleasant. except, wtf? no one recognized my costume. ok, not true. i think one person asked if i was from lotr. but most of the people there had not seen it. ::headdesk:: oy. rachael was enid from ghost world. who wants to write us some arwen/enid?

and today, church. my mom and E ran coffee hour and thoughtfully provided soy creamer and vegan treats so i stuck around longer than usual and brought my coffee intake for the day up to 5 cups. heh. oops.

on the drive there this morning, at about 8:30 am, i looked to the right and noticed the guy in the next lane was looking at me. quite pointedly looking, not the usual what-does-the-person-with-the-"eat people not animals"-bumper-sticker-look-like? looks that i am quite used to. so i kind of gave him a 'wtf?' look and sped up to pass him. he sped up with me and kept looking. i suddenly remembered i was still wearing my pointy elf ears and so smiled jovially and tried to slow down so he would pass. he slowed down too. and kept looking. so i tried to ignore him a while, but was quite aware that he was still keeping right next to me. when i glanced over, he held up a sign to his window that said, 'trick or treat?' um. ew? fortunately, he got off at an exit right after that and i didn't have to contemplate his sign any more. bizarre.
