i just realized that i made it all the way through the getting up, the showering and the applying moisturizer and hair product phases of my morning without hacking up a lung. maybe this is the true turning of the corner. i wasn't feeling very cornerful last night when i had to take my codeine-enhanced robitussin (the only kind i have!) just to stop coughing.

actually... i can kind of breathe this morning too. omg! this is so exciting.

last night, rach and i went to the video store to check for the next SFU disc (they're never in, but we tried) and then idly browsed the shelves. i stopped and got all excited about ned kelly, knowing very well it would take some work to convince her that it was a worthwhile movie. but i didn't even get a chance to try before she spotted the next shelf up - new york minute! (we could pause here to wonder why n-e-w was on the shelf above n-e-d, but let's just move on.) that's right, friends, my gf has an unnatural love for mary kate and ashley. and so i got a turn at being the patronizing, isn't-my-obsessive-girlfriend-cute one for a change. and then there was, "if we can watch this one, we can watch that one." "deal."

and that's how i spent my night watching new york minute. and its gag reel, 2 alternate endings and making-of featurette.

we also watched graduation day part 2, thus completing our re-watching of season 3. in many ways, my favorite season. now, i need to try to convince rach she needs to watch angel... this might be difficult. i took some convincing on this one myself. and you know, it would be much easier to argue, 'but see, it still is a pro-woman show!' (as for many of us women's college types, the entrance to the buffy world was made easier by the kick-ass girl) if seasons 4 and 5 hadn't happened. alas.

i'm rambling, aren't i? it happens. i'll be on my way, then. and maybe i'll see some valley slashers later on. though it doesn't seem terribly likely, given my schedule. have fun picking the apples, kids!

how was new york minute? i've been struggling with a desire to see it born mostly of curiosity. wax will have none of that and doesn't do trades. but i suppose i have time to watch it by myself.

it was complete and utter trash. but that was to be expected, no? only when they tried to be sincere was it painful. oh, and when they dressed up as black girls.

it was rather slashy, in that twincest-y way.

Perhaps you've already watched Ned Kelly now, but if not... um. Even as a die-hard Orlando fangirl, I can't say that it's terribly good. Jeanine pointed out (when I saw it with her ages ago) that it was really popular in Australia but probably bc it's their story - they know all about Ned Kelly and he's this huge part of their history (so there's also not a lot in the way of set-up or backstory) and really important... whereas here it's just this sort of random story about these outlaws. Orlando is very pretty, but it's not the best movie I've ever seen.

Of course, it's balancing out NY Minute, so... *g*
