there's just no way this won't be a boring post.
because i did boring things today. things i'm glad i did, but they would be interesting to no one else. and then i went off to rehearsal. which was not as bad as it has been. there was no mockery, no rude comments. or no really rude comments anyway. the only things i noted for later mention were -
- there was a substitute accompanist tonight and his score was apparently a little screwy. i don't know if that's the reason, but when he was playing the shire theme as a cue in the first movement, he had a little f natural problem. he played it half in d minor and half in major (as it should be). it was the wonkiest sounding thing i've heard in quite a while.
- i spoke up when there was question about how to pronounce something. as the only one who had the actual elvish text, i was the only one who would know. i believe i am now outed as an utter geek.
- most of the music is pretty easy to sing, note-wise. but there are a few places with funky intervals like descending minor 9ths. howard, that's harsh, man. harsh.
- we sang movement 5 tonight - which has the first half of rotk music. including the faramir music - the text of which is
You must understand.
He does the duty of two sons now.
For himself; and for the one
who will not return.
and i had many thoughts of wah.
- we also sang the anduril music. which was all inspiring and such. yes.
god, i just can't wait to do this with the orchestra.
i am not going to come up with clever things to say as i am really quite tired. i will give in now and go to sleep.
