oh, i'm so glad you asked.

[livejournal.com profile] jjatylor appeared on my radar when she friended me and i checked out her journal and found a shared love of sirius/remus. and so friended her back and omg, that was the best plan ever.

i adore jj. she puts amazing amounts of thought and consideration into both her fic and her posts. one of my (and many other people's) favorite things that she writes are conversations between herself and various hp characters. this sounds sort of silly but really they are always profound in some way. she rides the bus with snape, meets lupin at a bus stop, walks around a lake with mcgonagall. once as i recall, she encounters lily in a library. these work because of the quiet thoughtfulness of her tone and i find myself completely believing in the premise. it really feels like the characters are talking to her.

i went to see if she had these stored in her memories and i'm astonished to see that there are only 3 there. i'm going to have to get on her case about archiving. :) but here (http://www.livejournal.com/tools/memories.bml?user=jjtaylor&keyword=Bus+ride&filter=all) are those three. 'say his name' is one of the best known and loved. and i have more saved if you want linkage.

fortunately, she's kept better track of her actual fic (http://www.livejournal.com/tools/memories.bml?user=jjtaylor&keyword=Fic&filter=all). she's written mostly hp, x-men, and matrix. i've beta-ed most of it and i find, amazingly, she even sucks me into the matrix stories - when i have no particular love for the canon.

jj and i went to the same college, thought not at the same time. and now she lives in the city where i lived until last year. we met once, and barely started to talk about all the things we could have in the short few hours. she doesn't tend to write about her personal life in her lj, i think because she wants to preserve it as an outlet for her fannish thought. which is certainly fulfulling to read.

so, have i said enough? you happened to choose a person about whom i am extremely enthusiastic.

OMG, I missed this when you first posted it, but, wow, you've made me all teary, and simultaneously all warm and happy. You're so sweet.

About the archiving: Um....oops? No, really, I did all of that archiving in one day, just by hitting the 'back 20 entries' button, because I was having a hard time finding my own old entries. But some of the bus stories were waaaaaayyy back there in the calendar and I ran out of steam before I could enter them into memories. Hopefully I'll get to it sometime soon.

we met once, and barely started to talk about all the things we could have in the short few hours

Oh, I wish we lived close enough so we could have regular coffee get-togethers or something, because I feel like there are a zillion things I would love to talk to you about in person. OMG, so many things.

oh, when you decide to archive, i can help. i found links when trolling old entries for recs. so i've collected a bunch in a word doc.

i think we should try to have coffee or something once before the summer is through, don't you? if i ever finish this fricking temp job, i can hitch a ride to boston when rach goes for her internship and we can make a plan. how does that sound?

I think that would be wonderful. I can try and get the morning and afternoon off from work so that I don't make you sit in my boring, grey office for any length of time. Let me know when The Evil Office sets you free. Oh, I am so looking forward to this.

heehee. we had a chat about her user name over coffee once, actually. about how everyone see dancin grain instead of dancing rain. and that i had just lucked out with phineas jone - because, the theory went, it's where the the letter hanging below the 'line' is that you see the new word. yes, anyway. i still see fields of wheat waving in the wind when i see her name. though i try to get my brain to turn to rain dancing down a window pane or somesuch.

so, yes, we hung out once. talked for hours and hours - the time flew! because she is really sweet and friendly and easy to talk to. we both had fandom crushes to squee over and stories to rec to each other and everything.

a lot of her posts are locked - not all but more than half. i think she'd like it to be otherwise, but there were some real life issues a while back that necessitated locking. she'd likely friend you back if you friended her, though.

she's been busy lately - with a new job and, you now, life. which is good. because when i met her, we were both struggling with lack of employment.

um... she's politically and socially active, likes folk dancing... she's smart. and extremely nice. also, she has a lot of info on herself in her user info (unlike people like me, who think a one line quote from a movie suffices) so it's a good place to check out.

thanks for asking!

::sigh:: i love [livejournal.com profile] madmadharri.

well. you may have heard us talk about her in person too (her first name is the same as mine). i know harri because she is the girlfriend of my ex-boyfriend. or, that's how we met anyway. we became close through fandom, really. and the few brief times we've lived in the same place.

thing #1 abour harri is that she is so. much. fun. she's extremely sweet and cute and bubbly as well as really smart and thoughtful and witty.

fannishly, she's into many things. she has a deep and abiding love for hermione. and for harry/ron and... many things hp. there are some women sci fi-fantasy (this not being my area of expertice, i'm not really sure about this) that she adores. she's also into all the jossverse and dark is rising and lotrips and... well, she has a fabulous ability to get really enthusiastic about a great many things. which makes her fun to be around.

she hasn't written a whole lot of fic but the few pieces she has put forth are gems.

sadly, right now she's really, really busy and there's not a whole lot of time for fandom. she's spending the summer working at this jewish spiritual retreat/farm thingy. where she works her ass off all day. she has developed huge biceps to which she refers as her 'brads' after mr. pitt's arms in troy.

you may just get to meet here on a visit sometime, especially if it's some time soon, since here farm isn't too far from here.

aw. this is so great. people keep asking me about these people that i adore.

[livejournal.com profile] addictedkitten is sara. she's from washington state but goes to college in nyc. i encountered her through hp fandom (she has written much h/d) and then met her when [livejournal.com profile] antheia and i gathered slashers to meet up and join the anti-war protest in nyc last year. camilla was there too and they've since become fairly close - hooking up in the city a bunch of times. she came along to trilogy tuesday with us, too, and that was some quality time. also, this past year she started writing letters to some friends and we've had a regular, though slow, correspondance by mail. which is fun.

ok, that's how i know her. things to know about her: her writing is good. she knows how to lay on the angst and she writes incredibly hot sex. she has a flair for the brutal as well and her analysis of the h/d fight scene in OotP is brilliant. she is also startlingly honest (in a way i associate with you as well) - about her feelings and fandom things and such. she enjoys her own sensuality and posts a lot of pictures of herself in sexy little outfits or snuggling with her kitten or whatever.

she tends to post rarely but at great length. i often leave her posts open and read them in bits over the course of a day. because of my short attention span.

besides hp, she's been into lotrips, oc, and buffy - that i can think of off the top of my head. but it's her h/d that's won her the most fans.

well. i heart you too!

ok, [livejournal.com profile] cimorene111.

ahhh, this is a nostalgic little trip down memory lane for me. (but first, it can't be that you've never read anything by her... can it? dude, we'd have to fix that, like, RIGHT NOW, if it were the case. but i can't believe it is.) cim, along with wax_jism, was on of the first people i friended when i got an lj. because she is the author who got me into lotrips. though it was one of those things where i read her story first (burn - sean/elijah) and then spent most of the rest of my time in the fandom trying to find anything else as good.

there really isn't much else a good. except her dom/billy and her viggo/orlando and her billy/orli and her dom/elijah and her karl/viggo. especially her karl/viggo. two wishes is one of my favorite pieces of fanfic ever. ever.

if you told me cim invented angst, i might believe you.

i've also met her in person... like i have most of my flist, it seems. she used to go to amherst - right near where i live in case you are unfamiliar with mass geography - and she joined us for a viewing of the fellowship dvd (god, like 2 years ago? dude). it was a little funny for me because i had built her up in my head quite a bit - adoring her writing so much and reading her lj and all (in which she is very opinionated and sometimes harsh (less so of late) and smart and such) and then i met her and she was young (19 at the time) and tiny - not short, really, but very very skinny.

um, yes, i lost track of that sentence. anyway, i met her again when western mass slashers gathered for a wee hangout. and she was cute again. though i think she said mean things about ron and was generally snooty about hp in a way that bugged me. this was once a tricky thing for me in my feelings about her. she's so opinionated... and so comfortable i her opinions and the putting forth of them... that she pisses me off sometimes. and i see it as more my issue than hers. why should it be a problem for me that she expresses herself so? i'm not sure. but there was a time that i got angry at her when i felt like she was being mean to people and then i picked a fight and we had a little lj tiff. immediately following which, i helped her research for her viggo/karl. and all was well. yeah, so since then, i've actually liked her even more. i have a big-sisterly feeling toward her (which she may or may not realize or approve).

also, her life has changed a lot. she left amherst and went home and is now in texas until she can go to finland and be with [livejournal.com profile] wax_jism who she has been dating from afar (with brief visits) for quite a long time now. i feel like cim has mellowed a bit - and probably i have too - in the years i've been reading her lj. and it's nice.

she posts many short posts daily - pretty much the opposite of the way you post. and she's written a ton of fic that's not lotrips too. incredible, epic sirius/remus with wax, hilarious h/d, rps of many, many varieties and stuff in fandoms i don't know. it's always good though, no matter who it's about.

and that, in a jumble, is what i have to say about cim this morning.

except that she also makes gorgeous icons. like this one.
