hrm. am making my way slowly through the first kiss fics. some are darned good. but nothing is grabbing me. have you read anything that's knocked your socks off lately? any pairing... any fandom... i just need something with a little kick. please rec if you're inclined.

saw minority report with siena. so glad i did not see that with rachael who has an abnormally potent fear of being poked in the eyes. i thought it was pretty good if slightly obvious and heavy-handed. entertaining surely. but oh oh oh! i saw while i was there that radio tarifa is going to be at somerville theater this sunday! ::pees pants in excitement:: i lurrrve them. omg. so exciting. i saw them a few years ago in the same space. went by myself, didn't understand what they were saying... and had a fabulous time. even met a nice guy, fellow fan, named moustapha on my way home in the subway. a fine evening it was. they're just so good. oh, i have to go see them again. meep.

also coming to the theater is jesus has two mommies which i've been told i have to see.

ok. back to reading.

frightening eye-pokeage

hey!! i too am much a-feared of eye poking! -- actually, of anyone getting poked in the eye. and also of falling down stairs, but really, that's because if you fell down the stairs, you'd probably poke your eye out on whatever you were carrying on the way down, a pencil, a cup with the oh-so-convenient straw... you get the picture. and umbrellas. about a dozen different points of potential eye-pokeage, right at eye-level. hate 'em.

rach has it so bad that when she's going to sleep, she has to turn away from me at some point because she's afraid i'll poke her eyes somehow. and sometimes she has to cover her eyes because she imagines needles and knives coming at them. the worst thing though is that i actually have poked her in the eye accidentally several times. it's horrible! i don't think i've done that to anyone else ever... poor rachy.

dunno if i've discussed this fic (http://www.fanfiction.net/read.php?storyid=853596) w/ you before or not, but i am loving it. it's a wip, but the first four chapters (plus an intermittant smut scene which can be found here (http://www.livejournal.com/talkread.bml?journal=antenora&itemid=5953#cutid2)) are worth it. it's actually_evil!Draco plus convincingly_evil!Harry and lots of fun plot twists. so yeah -- if you read it (or have read already), lemme know what you think.

It's a bit out in left field, especially if you're not a big anime fan, but Dragon Tears (http://koanju.com/talyachan/wk/WKdragon.html) is an awesome fic. Not too long or complex, but might be a little confusing if you don't know anything about the anime Weiss Kreuz. Just re-read it the other day and had my socks knocked off. ^__~

man, what has happened? how did it happen? how did your inner geek gain such prominence? if you get into anime you will have completed your geek training and will be a full fledged geek master. can you imagine ten years ago even thinking about reading a story based on anime? or even knowing what anime is? it just blows me away (in a happy way of course).

i've known what anime is because of you, silly man. and i thought it was already clear that i am doing my best to embrace my inner geek. and ponder the cosmic meaning of finding such a geek inside myself.
