as i read more of PoA, i am completely fascinated by snape. i want to know the whole story, his whole story. RIGHT NOW. damnit. ok, i get the bitterness. the resentment for his childhood bullies that he carries with him, stubbornly, still. it doesn't make me like him, but i can see that it could happen. but then... was he a real death eater at some point? or was he a spy for the order the whole time? what happened to change his mind if he really was a death eater? why would he join the order, if he hated everyone in it? what does he owe dumbledore? and... why can't he let go? is there more to the story of his relationship with the marauders? what we saw in ootp wasn't pretty but it's been a long time. and in PoA, he seems to despise lupin as much as the rest of them. and yet still he makes him the potion. has he ever had any friends? any loves? any family?

hrm. these aren't new questions, i realize. but i want the answers NOW.

i also can't get away from snupin-y thoughts brought on by this read. but i feel mostly like it's one-sided. that it fueled snape's hatred for the others and, really, for lupin himself. that lupin wasn't cruel to him like the others would just have made it worse.

what did snape feel about what happened that october 31 and directly after? for such utterly horrific things to happen to people that he hated but fought alongside? if he was fighting with them then... do we have confirmation of that? i can't remember. man. i want to know. jjtaylor, maybe you should ask him. ;)

He's remarkably tight-lipped when the subject of his past comes up. Not exactly forthcoming.

I've been wanting to ask him about Neville since you mentioned wondering about the Longbottoms. Maybe it'll be a good opening into some other, harder questions.
