so, i'm going to be in virginia for 12 days. i will need me some slash. and i'm planning to bring my laptop but i don't know what my internet access will be... so,

might you have any recs for me? whatever fandom - hp, lotrips, lotr, btvs, ats, firefly (bats eyelashes hopefully), um... other things. am not picky. ok, yes i am, but i'm picky about goodness of fic rather than fandom.

i can just make them offline favorites instead of printing so this shouldn't be a time consuming process this time. ::kow::

or, you know, if anyone wants to write peter quint/uncle-guardian, i'm up for it. ;) ooh, or governess/miss jessel. yeah.

Ok, I've been trawling through my overly large to-be-recced list in hopes of actually posting some this week, and so I have a lot of stories in my mind - most of which you've probably already read - or recced to me in the first place! But here we go:

Europa at the Cusp
http://www.livejournal.com/users/imochan/152447.html

It's supposedly Remus/Harry, but I'd say it's really gen - short and very emotional.

Blue Vase
http://ivy.veela-inc.net/fanfiction/stories/bluevase.html

Amazing Harry-Draco.(It's password protected, but if you are a "veela" and you are "over18" then you know the username and password.)

Salience
http://www.aooa95.dsl.pipex.com/salience.html

A little bit of Harry/Draco, and some great in-character moments with Ron and Hermione

Buzz
http://www.livejournal.com/community/_insatiable_/4535.html#cutid1

Viggo/Orlando - very nice Viggo POV.

The Literal Game
http://www.livejournal.com/users/copperbadge/202224.html

I know, I know - Remus/James, but, oh, it's so good.

This is How
http://www.livejournal.com/users/seperis/72889.html?view=1275833#t1275833

Really excellent Lupin/Snape, set during the Hogwarts years - but with Remus lusting after Sirius. Seems to be a WIP that will not be finished, but it still ends well enough to be read alone.

Also, check out [livejournal.com profile] thefourthvine for recs - very funny recs from a good reader.

Ok, I'll see if I can come up with any more. 12 days is a long time!

And just for the sake of total randomness: The name "Peter Quint" got stuck in my head after I read your post and I couldn't understand why - until I remembered that after my viewing of the HS production of Turn of the Screw, the same thing had happened. Peter Quint reminds me of "Peter Quince" who is in this Wallace Stevens poem: http://eir.library.utoronto.ca/rpo/display/poem2015.html

Not much of a fan of Stevens, but his poems certainly are memorable - if in the oddest ways.

i knew that name rang some bell for me too! Peter Quince is the leader of the ridiculous players in A Midsummer Night's Dream! I wonder if it's related to Turn of the Screw.
