hey, doesn't tPotC come out today? i could go see it! or i could stay home and flog myself. hmm. tough call.

right. it's ash wednesday. which always feels to me like coming out day for catholics. kind of like wearing a pink triangle pin or something. i guess that's not really what the catholics are thinking, but i always think it. the first time i noticed someone with the forehead smear, i was 17. seriously, i'd made it that far in my life. i was about to tell bobby (the same guy i saw when i went to mass with starbuckle at christmas, heh) that he had something on his face when i noticed he wasn't the only one in the class with the smear. so i did some asking around until i got an explanation. fascinating stuff, religion.

i was raised catholic and i went to catholic schools from kindergarten to undergrad, so we always had mass at school. i always hated it when we had to stop at the grocery store or something on the way home - i felt so conspicuous.

I totally read that as "hey, doesn't PotC come out today?" and I got all excited that perhaps it was re-released in theatres and I missed it or something. Sometimes I confuse even myself.

i had honestly never seen anyone wearing the little ash cross or whatever on their forehead until two years ago, someone at work. I had to go ask someone why and then ask what Ash Wednesday was. Call me dumb, but there apparently just weren't any Catholics who did this around me before then.
