phineasjonesapparently, i'm not finished rambling yet. i blame the sugar in my coffee (i'm out of my usual substitute [agave nectar]).
today's sermon topic is shinto. a religion about which i know next to nothing, so i hope it will be interesting. we're singing sakura and hitori - two folksongs about cherry blossoms. ... i know. but really, these are the challenges of this job. UUs can talk about anything under the frickin sun and i'm supposed to find choral anthems that somehow fit with those topics. these folksongs are pretty anyway.
and then there will be rehearsal for the revue. ::sigh:: it will be preceded by a planning meeting at which i will beg them to do something about the fact that two of their group number choices are ridiculously sexist/heterosexist. the song from damn yankees is so bad i think i would refuse to sing it unless they mix it up in some way - put men and women on both parts instead of having the men singing about baseball and then women singing about making dinner. i mean, come on people. and the other bad one is 'june is busting out all over.' what a completely stupid song. i really don't want to sing it at all. i don't know though, what do they expect from shows that break down the parts as 'men' and 'girls'? ::shudder::
