ok, so i just followed willysunny's link here and was admiring the 'slashers' baseball shirt and such. and then i saw this one which reads, 'femme slash makes me ill.' what the motherfuck is that shit all about? is this a joke that i don't get? because it seems like appalling misogynist crap.

also, the 'eeeew...het' baby bib? ::gapes::

Yeah...I guess for a lot of people, slash is all "Look at the hot boys!" and femmeslash is "Ew, girly bits." Yes, it's misogynistic. Then again, that's how our society raises girls. *stabs society harshly*

That's one reason I like to hang out here among the people I do: we're so much better with that kind of thing. Not that there's much femmeslash still, but you can still find it.

bleh. i am aware of the danger of misogyny when writing m/m... women often become obstacles and villains. but i had never really encountered such blatant nastiness. i can see if femmeslash (or het or whatever) isn't your thing, but saying it makes you ill? putting it on a t-shirt? extremely problematic.
