::looks around in trepidation:: [livejournal.com profile] hackthis didn't kill anyone, did she?

dude, my mood didn't just swing, it pulled a complete about-face. i am so happy right now, it's disgusting. i just walked into town, had some lunch, bought a much-needed key chain, sat in the sun and read... lovely. as i was walking in, i thought to myself, i hope i bump into someone i know. ... i can't remember the last time i had such a thought. it's extremely reassuring to know i have not become a complete hermit. i said hello to numerous strangers, chatted with the haymarket guy about my shoes, and, indeed, ran into someone i know. we chatted, caught up, exchanged numbers. i am so totally social.

and. i was reading silver on the tree and holy bejeezus, i thought the grey king was slashy!
He whirled about, staring around him on the mountain; delight was singing all through him, he scarcely knew that the others were there. Except one of them.
"Bran?" he said. "Bran? Do you feel it - do you - " He flapped one hand impatiently as he found he had no words; but then looked and knew that he needed none, from the rapt astonishment on Bran's pale face. The Welsh boy too turned, looking out over the mountains, out at the sky, as if hunting for something, trying to hear a voice calling. Will laughed aloud, to see the reflection of the same indefinable joy that flooded his own mind.
Jane, behind them, watching, sense the intensity of their feeling and was afraid of it.

... and then they go off into the sunset together. ahaha. either marriage or some really good symbolic sex. did you catch cooper's use of the appositive, 'the welsh boy.' dude, told ya she's a slasher.

I didn't know that was called the appositive (or if I did, I had forgotten.) Funny to see it used in one of my favorite fantasy novels, because I usually hate that construction when I run across it in fic. Particularly "the taller/smaller man" - it always gives me a mental image of two guys with a dramatic height difference, like a hobbit and a human. Which can really ruin the moment.

But that's a great quote from the book! Perhaps you're already familiar with this - [livejournal.com profile] kestrelsan's Dark is Rising Fanfiction Links, I think the most complete list of DiR fic, particularly Will/Bran.

the dark-haired man. the american. the older man. blah blah blah! names are good. i like names.

yeah, i was pretty surprised to see her do it too... but it just fits with the ultra-slashiness that is will and bran somehow.

and oooh! thank you for the linkage. i'm almost done this last book and then i get to attack the fic. ::bookmarks::
