i have such love for the guy in my church choir who sends me random e-mails about lotr. this morning, he let me know that he almost managed to watch fotr (ext) and ttt in one go. and offered to let me borrow his dvd of the hobbit. this was totally out of the blue. how cute is he? it's great politically too because his wife is a huge pain in the ass. she's not in the choir but she's a music teacher and she's big in the church and thinks she knows all and is incredibly pushy. but he's on my side, yo. the geek side. muahaha!

mmm_cake posted some pics of our apartment before we painted etc - check it out here. i'll do a little before and after thing when i have my shit together.

got the sweetest card from starbuckle yesterday. harry/neville! oh, the cuteness! i took it over to the kids' house so harrimad_sol and camillafarfalla could squee with me about it. thank you, jenny dearest!

we were over there for dinner and TV. i have come to the conclusion that boy meets boy is eeeeeeevil. i hadn't realized that james was never told that some of the guys (almost half of them!) were straight. that's just fucking cruel. i hope he spits at the woman when she tells him. of course he won't. but maybe andra will. i'm still rooting for wes... but with trepidation. i feel like any one of them could be a lying ass at this point. ::sigh::

i'm about to leave for new hampshire to spend the day chilling with my parents. should be lovely. and then i'll be in the boston area for a few days. less lovely as it's all for work purposes.

Yeah, there is something seriously wrong with that show. Both the shows really, but at least Queer Eye is funny. (Omigoodness there is something SO wrong with saying that!)

besides it being funny, i think QE is inherently less offensive than BMB. i mean, at least it's honest and relatively positive.

Yeah, I've been thinking about what is the difference between shows like Queer Eye and and Will & Grace that makes them less offensive the previous attempts at exploitation in the media and it eventually occured to me this morning (sad how long these things take sometimes.) In these shows, while the gay characters are total stereotypes, they are the characters in positions of power. That, I believe, makes the stereotype acceptible on some level.

I agree that Boy Meets Boy is evil - I watched it for the first time last week after Queer Eye and was shocked to find out that the secret of the show is that some of the guys are straight. The boy-meets-girl-reality-show secrets are about money and or simply secretless shows about finding perfect romance - I can't believe anyone ever thought that this 'Oh, I'm not really gay' thing would be a fun, suspenseful secret. (I just wrote and deleted a whole paragraph-long rant about that sort of deception and the gay community but - right, anyway, Boy Meets Boy is evil.)
