omg. that was the WORST SHOW EVER!!!!!!! only decent moment: ephram telling colin he looked ravishing. *g* and part of me was very satisfied when amy finally told colin off. ok, and i liked the woman talking to the little girl about porn. but the major plot line? what the motherfuck was that? grandma's little rant about women cleaning up the mess... yes, all very sensitive but then the whole stupid show was about how hard it was for these male doctors to contemplate this horrible act. ulch ulch ulch. it was so bad. and, as rach pointed out, andy was all 'i can't kill anything now that my wife died' when he had just said that the right to choose was hugely important to her. hmph. that show was so bad, it's making me reconsider the show in general. (i know that won't last, but i can pretend, can't i?)

what? a riot in amherst? dude. (sorry, news is on in the other room).

other reactions to the news:
-wheee!!! no more smoking in any boston restaurants or bars!!! ::happy asthmatic dance::
- i think tornados are the scariest things ever. ::shudder:: those poor people.

oh man. the badness. i'm reeling. i don't know what to do with myself. oh wait, yes i do. go write my frickin report for church.

they can do that?

It's been done in NYC for a few weeks now. The restaurant/bar whatever, gets a hefty fine if they don't enforce the smoking ban and a patron complains.

I actually liked the ep. It's hard to do a Very Special episode, and they dealt with a sensitive subject in what I thought was a pretty fair way.

It could be because I'm drunk as an ass right now, but still :) I felt real love for Dr Abbott. And I liked that he was the one who came through despite his beliefs, while Andy ends up rethinking everything he thought he stood for ... it was a little hokey in places, and some of the metaphors came across as anvils, but all things considered - it could have been a whole lot worse.

And next week! Did you see the previews! *clutches Ephram protectively*

well, oops, i meant to respond to this sooner. this is a tricky subject and generally i suppose abortion politics are not best discussed over lj comments... but for my stronlgy pro choice stance, that episode sucked the big one.

just the message we were left with. andy wants to support the right to chose, but her thinks it's murder and he won't do it. kate gets passed from doctor to doctor (with no explanation to her!) after hours. she comes out tearful and - one could assume - almost regretful. so dr. abbott has to go to church and confess! the very last words of the show, 'i have sinned.' i thought i was going to vomit. the only person on the show who didn't seem to have a problem with abortion was kate's freakishly evil father. and maybe grandma abbott - who's speach was peachy but did nothing to change the fact that the whole focus of this show about what i see as an issue of women's rights was men and what they think about it and how they deal with it. yeah, i really hated that show.

i'll be v. happy to get to next week's episode - lots of ephram and some good angst. that's what it should be, yo.

and let's just blame my state of agitation over the badness of the show for the exceptional number of typos in that comment, shall we?

Amherst Riot

Uh, yeah. We like to have a riot once every coupla years. Usually when the Red Sox lose something important or the Patriots win or something like that. Oh, or when the power goes out. I think that it's sort of a prerequesite for graduating from UMass.

Hobart Hoedown 2003. Hundreds of people congregate on north pleasant street, cops arrive. more cops arrive. People get indignant, people burn things. The Collegian makes a biased report on the next school day. But, hey, we made CNN. And that's what's important.
