therapy day. oh boy. ::does therapy dance:: heh. what do you suppose that would actually look like? it would have to involve sitting on a couch. maybe a rhythmic raising and lowering of a kleenex. swaying of the head, averting of the eyes. well-timed nothings.
it's a grey day here in boston, folks. and me without an umbrella. do i walk anyway? i think yes. though it means wearing the ugly dumpy coat.
the new ani album is so aesthetically pleasing. the cover etc, i mean. the music is her usual hard-to-get-into-at-first stuff. i think that comes from her non-melodies. her few songs with really singable tunes have been her greatest hits. i mean really, try singing the average ani tune without a guitar or the recording or anything and it just doesn't sound very good. and it's hard to do. which doesn't mean it's not good music. it's just hard to get into til you get your mind around it.
at first glance, though, there are some lyrics that i'm digging:
they say that the truth will set you free
but then so will a lie
it depends if you're trying to get to the promised land
or you're just trying to get by
and
my distraction's my defense
against a lack of inspiration
against a slow leak deflation
the further the horizon
the more it holds my gaze
and the foreground's out of focus
but, you know, i kinda hope it's just a phase
