lovely morning

i'm sitting in the kitchen with my spiffy, completely wireless laptop and a cup of coffee in the mug
annelarissa painted for me. it's so quiet.
mmm_cake and
powerfulkatrina are both not feeling well and are still in bed. it's grey and snowy outside. i love this kind of morning quiet, even if the term 'morning' stretched at this point... and i would rather everyone were feeling well.
last night we made a pizza and i caramelized some onions. it was the first time i did that for real - i usually cheat and throw a little sugar in the pan and cook them regularly. so much better this way, but it took forever. still, now i know how to caramelize onions.
we also watched monsters inc. and the tlc show faking it. i've realized that for all the time i spend making disgusted noises about reality tv, shows like trading spaces, what not to wear and faking it are probably in fact considered reality tv. alas. but last night's faking it was irresistible. in case you don't know, they take some random person and give them a new profession to master (or fake) in three weeks. this is the first one i've watched, but i know they've taken a harvard grad and made her a cheerleader and they took a construction worker and made him an interior designer. after the three weeks, they have to go on some sort of display with other people who really are in the profession and judges try to figure out which one is 'faking'. anyway, last night's guy was a drag racer from some little town in wisconsin. they brought him to nyc to be a drag queen. for some reason, the show was just riveting. i so wanted him to pull it off. in the end, he only fooled one of three judges, but he'd come a long way. :) and my goodness... i wanted it to be a series or something bc that would make for some damn good slash.
i had a series of text messages from
camillafarfalla this morning. it's a rather limited form of communication but from what i could gather, things went well... but perhaps didn't meet all hopes. she said "really good time, tho not all it could have been." well. i hope that's mostly good. oh, and she also said, "Also, thanks to youand the troops for all the msg! even he i'm not entirely sure who they're all from! i have guesses tho. But they all made of really happy." hope she gets on lj this weekend.
