turn offs

i never did that 10 things that turn me on meme that was kicking around for a while. but i enjoyed thinking about it, i could just never seem to come up with the right collection of 10 things at once. however, the other day i walked to the T, rode on the T several times, walked around a bit more and sat waiting for camillafarfalla for 30 minutes at the mall. i saw a lot of people. and i very quickly assembled a list of

10 things that turn me off.

1. spitting. a delighted habit of many a young male, especially smokers. which leads to number 2.
2. smoking. i can't imagine a situation in which i would have developed enough self-loathing to date a smoker. i would have to remove my lungs first. also... i so completely disagree with the decision to smoke... it would be like dating a meat eater. which leads me to number 3.
3. meat eating. also milk consumption. while meat eating is the most direct violation of my vegan principles, somehow i'm more grossed out by watching someone drink milk than by just about anything else. even before i became a vegan, i had turned from milk.
4. egotism/bragging/posturing/bravado. all ways of saying the same things. i like humble yet confident. people who don't have anything to prove.
5. meanness/cruelty. i realize that's actually a turn on for some people. not for me.
6. lame pick up lines. to me, this indicates intellectual inferiority. perhaps this is unfair? oh well.
7. excessive musculature. no no no. defined muscles, sure, but not bulky muscles.
8. ignorance. also conservativism. they go hand in hand. sure, i'm tolerant of other points of view... as long as they're not ignorant or conservative.
9. sloppy, wet kissing with too much tongue. might as well suck on a goldfish.
10. being told what to do. i don't take that well, as my friends could tell you.
