as if the war news this morning weren't bad enough. one of my BU professors is missing. missing. how bizarre and unsettling. and scary. and he... god, i'm so worried. so many people at BU sucked in one way or another... but he was fantastic. he actually cares about teaching and not just his research. and he's fucking brilliant. even his musicology colleague, sheveloff, who hates everyone, will pause mid-rant to point out that john daverio is an exception to the BU school of fine arts rule of evil. his classes were always overfull - people standing in the back, sitting on the floor. but he managed to learn and remember everyone's name, tried to come to everyone's big recitals. i can't imagine anyone who knew him could possibly want to hurt him. but he walked out of his office to smoke a cigarette on sunday, left his wallet and briefcase and hasn't been seen since. oh god, i just hope he's ok.
