i have nothing more to say about california than what
princessrugger ( said this morning )
i accidentally started rereading the two towers. ok, it wasn't completely accidental. but home town was boring the stuffing out of me and seeing fotr and ttt back to back on sunday developed in me an intense desire to be in the world of those books again. and i recently(ish) reread fellowship and stopped there. so, despite my promise to myself to read new things instead of reading the same few books over and over... here i am. and i like it here.
we watched the two theatrical versions back to back on sunday. while i prefer the extended fotr, seeing the original was like visiting with an old, much-loved friend. it brought me back to those fridays in the almost-empty theater. when i couldn't stop just going back and going back to see it again and again. and... everything is so happy and light at the beginning. it's really rather heart-breaking to watch them together like that. to really feel everything getting steadily darker. whew. trilogy tuesday is going to be... i don't even know. it's going to be something i can't even anticipate.
