phineasjones: (fearless)
happy birthday [livejournal.com profile] boixboi!

it's an early early day for the choir director. we can all thank the loser who didn't send the music he was supposed to when he was supposed to. but he has to be there early too, so that helps a little.

right, i'm going to get my positive attitude on now. :) see?

we didn't stain any furniture yesterday. because when we were in the hardware store fetching supplies, there were some kind of mild fumes that made my lungs constrict somewhat alarmingly. i decided if they were feeling that sensitive, breathing more intense fumes for a longer period of time would be a bad idea. i'm going to try to get me some acupuncture soon. apparently, my insurance will actually cover some of it. whoa. it's something people are constantly telling me to do for help with athsma and allergies.

we watched hours of tlc last night - trading spaces and then the new show that's like trading spaces but for your wardrobe. sort of. they give some frumpy girl $5000 to get new clothes, hair, make up etc. and all these fashion types criticize her mercilessly for days. i almost couldn't handle the mean-ness. this is based on a british show, and rach's theory was that they were trying to copy the brit style of witty criticism. came up rather short though and were actually just nasty. still, am addicted to the makeover concept and couldn't stop watching. they did some pretty impressive work with the chosen frumpy girl. but for $5000, they'd better.

so. are we surprised that the loser guy showed up 45 minutes late? nah, right? should have anticipated that. it all came off ok though, thanks to patience and flexibility on the part of my lovely choir. it just would have been so much better if they guy had been remotely on top of things. this is his frickin job.

anyway. after the service, we had a music committee meeting. after that, i ran into bill, who's on the committee but missed the meeting and he asked for a recap. the recap ended with me recounting to him how i had asked for advice about the possibility that rach and i will move to western mass. i want to keep this job, but i would want them to pay me more to cover my increased travel expenses. anyway, yada yada...
bill: hmm. interesting. well... you're going to be getting a letter this week.
me: what kind of letter?
bill: a letter from thetownwherethechurchis community singers. [bill is the pres of that group]
me: what's the letter about?
bill: you'll see. hmm. increased travel expenses? hhm. interesting.
me:!!!!!!!

in case this is too cryptic - the implication seems to be that the job of music director for that chorus must be opening up. perhaps the letter is a notice of that. perhaps it is an invitation to audition for the job. in my wildest dreams, it would be a letter offering me the job. (i did direct them for one rehearsal, when their conductor was absent and they seemed to like me). this would be so exciting. it would be a fantastic foot-in-the-door type opportunity for me. a non-church chorus. i want one sososososo much!

ok. must stay calm. who knows what the letter actually says. if bill weren't the nicest person on the planet, i would call him a big meanie for teasing me like this. i'm just going to get in bed for a little while now. i have two hours til i leave for tonight's rehearsal. ::sigh:: and i'm frickin tired. ::zzzzzzzzzz::
