happy birthday [livejournal.com profile] boixboi!

it's an early early day for the choir director. we can all thank the loser who didn't send the music he was supposed to when he was supposed to. but he has to be there early too, so that helps a little.

right, i'm going to get my positive attitude on now. :) see?

we didn't stain any furniture yesterday. because when we were in the hardware store fetching supplies, there were some kind of mild fumes that made my lungs constrict somewhat alarmingly. i decided if they were feeling that sensitive, breathing more intense fumes for a longer period of time would be a bad idea. i'm going to try to get me some acupuncture soon. apparently, my insurance will actually cover some of it. whoa. it's something people are constantly telling me to do for help with athsma and allergies.

we watched hours of tlc last night - trading spaces and then the new show that's like trading spaces but for your wardrobe. sort of. they give some frumpy girl $5000 to get new clothes, hair, make up etc. and all these fashion types criticize her mercilessly for days. i almost couldn't handle the mean-ness. this is based on a british show, and rach's theory was that they were trying to copy the brit style of witty criticism. came up rather short though and were actually just nasty. still, am addicted to the makeover concept and couldn't stop watching. they did some pretty impressive work with the chosen frumpy girl. but for $5000, they'd better.

well, turns out it's not covered, per se. but you get a 25% discount. still worth considering.

the brits are pretty good at that witty criticism thing. that's not to say that they're not mean, they're just funny while they're being mean.

right, they're funny and also... you just sort of expect a certain amount of callousness culturally. whereas americans are typically supposed to avoid hurting each other's feelings. so you notice more when people are being mean like that. imo.
