wow. the study is not only clean, it is organized. completely. with, like, files and stuff. and all my church music is sorted and alphabetized. there are no big, scary unlabeled piles anywhere. this is amazing. i actually feel physically lighter. next, the finances. ::shudder::

last night's suddenly developed need to read ron/draco resulted in my staying up too late and reading utter crap. ::sigh:: is there any good ron/draco out there? please? it seems to suffer from harry/ron disease. but where h/r is all schmoopy pwp smut, r/d is nasty pwp smut. which is actually a little easier to handle. just... i don't ever want to read another fic in which ron performs in drag. ever.

it's funny to realize, thanks to some good ol'comment exchanging in [livejournal.com profile] fearlessdiva's journal, that religion as a topic still fascinates me. christianity most of all. fascinating. that's why i can't throw away those stacks and stacks of books about jesus i'm still storing at my parents' house. dude, i can't imagine what my life would be like if i had gone with plan A and majored in religion in college... but it's good to know that the time spent on it wasn't totally wasted. it's still good brain exercise to think about it.

i suppose i should also be contemplating shoveling out the car. did i mention we got more snow here in boston than ever before on monday?

seems that i will never figure out how to spell the word 'exercise.' alas.

hm.

my lunch is yummier than your lunch.

ok, possibly not, but this toasted bagel wit calamata hummus and tomato slices is totally floating my boat right now.

i don't plan on ever leaving the study again. i love it in here now. in addition to all the cleaning and filing, i have now even conquered the dreaded Box of Important Things. wrote checks. sent letters. filed more things. next thing you know, i'll be filing my taxes before they're due.

...ok, not feeling very impressed with our mail carrier right now (i lied, i left the study, briefly). s/he put our mail in our landlord's box and ignored our outgoing mail. stinker. :-P

one of many reasons to shop at the local central american markets: i just bought beans, rice and plantains enough for several dinners and got change back for my $5.

now, i am sitting, feeling pretty darn good, sipping spanish red wine and reading the cambridge center for adult ed catalog and thinking about all the courses i would take if i had infinite time and money.

here are some:
-birdwatching for beginners (dunno why, i'm a morning person... seems appropriate)
-the koran (isn't spelled qu'ran these days? and, it can't be true that the instructor's name is michael koran... can it?)
-forbidden love:transgressive short stories
-crusades and jihad: christians and muslims in conflict in the 21st century
-a short history of socialism
-spanish
-arabic
-haitian creole
-wine and vegetarian foods from artisan producers (taught by didi emmons, my chef hero!)
-bluegrass in new england
-belly dancing
-ballroom dance
-latin dance
-transgender cinema
-handmade paper workshop
-bookbinding
-jewelry making
-feng shui: the art of harmonious environments
-yoga
-massage
-feldenkreis
-t'ai chi
-car care

though, a better idea would probably be selling myself to them as a music teacher or ensemble leader. hmm. time to cook some rice and beans.

also, (sorry, i get chatty when i drink wine) i have decided that it's high time for me to learn the britten war requiem. so, i will take my recording (britten conducting, pears and fisher-dieskau singing, remastered) and my choral score (picked up for free when the bu library was getting rid of extra copies) in the kitchen while i cook. a full score would be much more helpful, but i'm told they cost around $75. considering that i will likely never perform the piece, that's rather steep. but i want to know it anyway. so here i go.
