rally blah blah church
Feb. 16th, 2003 08:45 am::squint:: morning?
dude. tired. very tired.
but there were good times yesterday. the rally was... well, i don't really know. we didn't exactly find the center of the rally. but it was huge. there were people everywhere. i have yet to hear any news coverage or crowd estimates. but, big, that's what i'm saying.
also somewhat frustrating because of the whole mess with the march permit denial and such. there were too many people for what ever permitted area there was. thus the shutting down of 3 avenues. if they hadn't been such asses in the first place, there could have been an effective, organized rally and march. instead the police liked to put on their riot gear and chase people out of the streets and then arrest them for 'stepping off the sidewalk.' dicks.
well, there were a few friendly cops too. one van-full in particular appreciated our bush/blair posters. in fact, everyone's inner slasher came out to appreciate them. we posed for more than a dozen pics and got smiles and laughs and points from countless others. go slash. and we ended up giving one of the posters to this one guy because he liked it so much.
also saw a potential future member of SAW sitting on her dad's shoulders holding a sign that said 'harry potter is against war on iraq' on one side and had a big drawing of harry on the other. what a great idea - fanart against the war!
and really the highlight of the day was meeting up with
antheia,
addictedkitten,
camillafarfalla and a few friends. slashers rock, yo.
and now, to church. seeing as she never e-mailed me about legolas and gimli or anything, i doubt she'll be discussing the love in lotr. thus, another mind-numbingly boring sunday. the sermon has something to do with community. we'll sing some cheezy tunes - loving hands and love and understanding. rach and i will have to poke at each other every now and then to stay awake. ugh. but then when it's over we can come back to bed. i'm already fantasizing about that part. sleeeeeeeeeeep.
