o sleep fond fancy
Sep. 23rd, 2002 09:55 ammonday monday. i work tonight. the new job with the women's ensemble. i haven't even picked all the music yet. they want to do madrigals. ok. i know about 40,000. not worried. but i want them to do some other stuff too. i've ordered a bunch of bartok and kodaly. i think lift thine eyes from mendelssohn's elijah would be nice. since i have to accompany rehearsals myself, i'm thinking a cappella is the way to go.
claire came over again yesterday. it was really nice. now i'm feeling all snuggly about her. of course, the strikes start this week, so who knows when i'll see her again. she was told to buy extra underwear before it started since she won't have time to do laundry for weeks and weeks. and she's planning to get arrested on thursday. go claire. when you hear about boston janitor strikes on the news, think of her and her shiny new undies.
and church was wacky. the sermon was fine. she leaned toward the war is a bad idea side and quoted lots of people smarter than she is. but the choir was whacked. i turned around for the introit to discover half-empty seats - no tenors and one bass. they all came running in from the front hallway barely in time. i gave them a look of death and moved on. then the organist screwed up the intro to one of the anthems. everyone came in wrong for the benediction. crazy. there are always little things, but everything happened in one service yesterday. whatever. i honestly don't care. except for the introit-thing. they're getting a talking to about that.
i started
ashkitty's scarf yesterday too. i love knitting! it's been too long. claire made fun of our domesticity when she came over and rach was baking cinnamon buns and i was knitting a scarf. hee.
ok, i have about 20 windows open on the desktop of things i didn't have time to read this weekend. here goes...
