things wot i learned in church

hm. just got an e-mail from camillafarfalla in which she frequently refers to me in third person, by the name phin. hm. a bit lj-influenced, perhaps?

i learned some interesting stuff in church today. oh yes. about abner kneeland - the universalist (not UU as i said earlier, as there were no UUs as such in the early 1800s) who was jailed for blasphemy. what was most fascinating was when she read the massachusetts law under which he was prosecuted. basically, it says you go to jail if you say irreverent things about god, jesus or the holy ghost. um. even more interesting? this law came under review in 1979... and was left as it is. it is still the law in this here state. so, what did this guy say? he said god is everywhere and everything is god. and he advocated birth control, interracial marriage, the abolition of slavery... yeah. blasphemy.

so. was a lazy lout today. but i did go to my parents' after church and i got this beeeyoootiful new laptop! wheee!!!! <3<3<3 v. v. happy.

oh, hey, noho kids! when is hominidj coming? are y'all coming east at some point? what's up for the weekend, yo? plans?

yes, well. *g* I had just finished posting, and then wrote you at what's in my addressbook as your Phineas address, so I was all in lj-speak-mode. I think maybe I forgot I wasn't just replying to a comment or something. And lord, it does seep into the brain... wasn't it you who thinks of me as Camilla as you're going about your day? hee!

But man, I just bless this brain-sucking monster for when I'm away and will still have you around as Phineas...

ah yes. i can see that. and yes, you are often camilla in my head. and i am often writing journal entries in my head. but it was still funny.

not presuming to speak for all of us here in western mass, but i believe it's time we paid you a visit.. traveling east sometime this weekend. unless this would not work for you... also, were there still plans in the works for you and mmm_cake to come out here for a grad-school-athon?

yes, those plans are still in the works...

we were thinking of going out there sunday after church so she can go to umass on monday.

when were you thinking of coming here? if you came, like, friday or something, we could see you here for a while and then... well either we could all go in caravan back to westmass or we could go on our own and catchy up with y'all later. what do you think?

i think i'll be arriving in western mass on thursday morning and i would love to either head out your way for your b-day or have you guys come our way (whichever you prefer). if we came out on friday we'd have to do it late b/c scott will be at work until 5 probably. maybe he could go in early and get out a little early. scott?

Wouldn't it be great to all go to Elephant Walk on the big B'day Friday? Or Saturday if you guys from the western reaches won't reach us in time on Friday. Well...let us know asap so we can get a reservation if you want...(our treat by the way)
