more exciting ttt musical moments:

the militarized version of the elf theme that earlier plays under galadriel's speech to elrond. gnyah. makes me want to grab my bow and arrow and march off to helm's deep in my flowy cloak.

*g*

Me too!!

But like, whoa.

Makes me shiver, like the battle theme in Galdiator and the Throne room theme in Star Wars, when they play the sad version of it at the end of Empire and then it mixes with "Han Solo and the Princess" and Luke puts his hand on Leia's shoulder. -sob-

Done now. Really.

squee! this is why i love (and collect) movie soundtracks. some of them are just too perfect, the way they malke you feel and the way they invoke the scene that they accompany, so that you can remember it exactly even when yuo're just listening to the music, not watching the film. i just love it. am nerdy like that.

when i first saw TTT way back on 18 dec, one of the first things i noticed about the soundtrack was the marching!Lothlorien theme -- i remembered the original version of that theme from the lament for gandalf (i think), and it struck me right away in its new form. mr shore did i nice job there, i thought.

just to add my own two cents in about cool TTT music bits, i love the escalting part of track 14 (breath of life) -- it's right at the end of that track (i feel like i know that theme in a different form from elsewhere, though i can't put my finger on where). in the movie it's where aragorn has just seen the host from isengard on his way to helm's deep, and he's just riding up to the top of the hill where he can see the refuge, and the music is just, like, "hey, i'm coming to help!" but with tension underneath. whee! hmmm, that was not well said, but hopefully you know what i'm getting at.

squeee for howard shore!

yes. i haven't been really into soundtracks for a while, but this one is certainly exceptional. as is the movie - makes sense.

agreed about the military theme... marching elves... it works - still mystical but now driven as well.

oh, and track 14, yes! doesn't it make you want to jump up and get in armor and onto your horse? you're right, i think, it's quoted from another place... if i ever figure it out, i'll share. shore has a gift for expressing the landscape in music, i think.

also, evenstar is gorgeous.
