well, that was... something. wouldn't exactly say fun. have i mentioned my pathetic lack of a sense of direction? whenever i get off the T at downtown crossing, i go the wrong way. then mill about for a while as though in a maze before i eventually wander out onto the common. as i made my way up the hill toward the state house, i recalled [livejournal.com profile] camillafarfalla's employment there in days past and found renewed sympathy for her daily trudge up the hill.

the job there won't be stimulating but it will pay well enough. my 'boss' is in my choir. her boss is the former minister of my church. and there's at least one other person working there from the church. weird. but good. filefilefile.

walking back across the common, i contemplated the gold dome of the state house. maybe some day we'll be in such ruin that we'll have to sell the dome to keep the state running. that would be cool. and then the squirrels will take over the common. you'll have to give them food and stuff for them to let you enter. that almost happened to claire once. she was strolling across the common, eating her sandwich when a squirrel ran up her leg to try to get at it. she threw it so the squirrel would get off her.

ok, i've been majorly procrastinating on the program notes. blech. it's like paper writing - except when you write a paper it's for a professor or someone who has at least the faintest idea what you're talking about. writing program notes requires delegating to the lowest. ::snore:: also, i have nothing interesting to say. well, one good thing - i get to use the word 'macaronic.' of course, i'll have to define it. alas.

The gold dome and the pretty marble floors were always some of my favorite parts of working at the State House. Speaking of, do you about the cod in the House chamber? It's an odd state Commonwealth we live in here.

It would have been a much worse trudge if I had had to get out at Downtown Crossing and walk through all that; it wasn't so bad just going up the hill. So sympathy to you for having to start from farther away. *g*

Macaronic? As in, foppish and coxcombry (I don't know how that one's spelled)? I promise I'll read every word of the dastardly program notes on Sunday!

no. i thought of that too though. :) as in poetry which alternates between two languages. ex.

for in that rose contained was
heaven and earth in little space
resmiranda

and you don't have to read them - i'm not planning to write anything i'll be overly proud of.

no, i don't think i've seen the cod.

like my journal and lists and notes I make for myself! who knew there was a name for that?! "connections fra governments..." for instance, from cover letter notes today, or how my shopping lists read like,
milk
pane
cipolla
cheese
aglio

oh, but it's supposed to be poetry? oh well, I'll adopt it anyway. haha! *g*

i think you guys are confused. "macaronic" means of or relating to macaroni, as in, "i really liked that dish. it was kind of macaronic."
