*watching the HCT videos, all i could really think was GRETA/ALEX OMGEEEEEEEEE!!!! is there any possible way they are/were not actually dating? i just... don't see it. god, that last day one where alex opens the door to the bus and calls 'gretaaa, i brought you fries!' ♥__♥ also, calling it summer camp? not helping. i heart them so much. though it makes me very sad for bob because obvsly he is very in love with greta. and so this is painful for him, living on the same bus as them and all. and then they go off on their own tour and... what? does greta pine? was it just a tour thing? bob is very careful around her, of course. he loves her and doesn't want her to be sad. he is waiting in the wings guy, not all pretty and rumpled and vegan like alex, but a good, solid guy. he would be so good to her. one day she'll realize, right? one day?

*saw the tentative panic tour dates. broomfield, ok. i'm curious to see the place from the inside after watching it be built on my drives to and from boulder over the last several years. and i don't care about the plain white t's or dashboard confessional and i was thinking i don't really care about seeing the cab again either and then I AWOKE FROM MY STUPOR and realized... PANIC TOURING WITH THE CAB = BRENDON/CASH YAY. oh, so happy.

*i saw the hush sound! it was all kinds of awesome. below the cut, i will tell you why. and i will share my photos (and vids) which, for once, are actually kind of good. not the ones of the cab, which i took from a far off balcony. but the ones of the hushies, for which i was much better situated.

upon arrival: [livejournal.com profile] mmm_cake and i found [livejournal.com profile] little_whittles outside the bluebird with many of her friends whose names i completely forget now. and also, cash. i had a kind of wuhuh? moment there. i don't really have the story but it looked like some of whittles' friends were friends with some of the cab guys. rach was scandalized by cash's pants. and rightly so. i know the whole extremely low rise thing is the way of their scene but... his pants were belted at maybe mid-thigh. this revealed most of his underwear as his shirt was not particularly long. as rach said, "you can see ::wavy hands:: details." yeah. cash went away and marshall came over. right, because part of the reason they were hanging around was because their trailer had been hit - by an armored car - while parked out in front of the venue. these boys have bad van/trailer luck. inside, we ran into [livejournal.com profile] packmentality and [livejournal.com profile] siren_mage.

the bluebird: made of win! srsly. this venue is my new denver favorite. nice, cool AC, pretty, clean, 16+!, and the best of all is the floor which is split into many levels, meaning just about everyone had decent sight lines. i have heart eyes for this venue, srsly. also, it was strangely un-crowded. maybe because they had another show the next night in colorado springs? dunno. rach and i went up to the balcony where we could sit on stools and drink some beer during the first three bands. and then we made our way downstairs for the hushies and ended up at the railing of the third level which, as you can see from the pics, gave us an excellent view.

morning light: ummm, no opinion. they were fine/good, i guess. the crowd was kind of thin and kind of dead for them, so it's hard to judge fairly.

steel train: i like them. i turned the corner form eh to an interested hmmm when they did a cute little number where the five of them gathered around one mic with one guitar and did some harmonizing. then they randomly broke into mama mia and finally woke up the crowd. they worked it for the rest of their set. so, thumbs up.

and apparently i took video of them. i didn't remember this and was surprised when i got home. but i might as well share. :) [i am so grooving on the 'watch in high quality' option]

the cab: it was fun watching from the balcony and seeing the cab guys wandering around the venue while the other bands played. cash was sporting his disney princesses backpack. johnson was displaying his utter lack of fashion sense. srsly, he looked so much like a 14 year old, i took a picture -

i thought maybe he would change. singer had been hanging out in similarly ugly shorts earlier and he changed. cash changed out of his falling-off pants. but no. that's what johnson wore on stage. i guess drummers get special license to wear ugly stuff/very little clothing.

i enjoyed the cab's set. i think maybe i like them better live than on whisper war. i just find that album kind of oppressively poppy. but, live, it's just fun and dancy. and i took some crappy, long-distance pics of them.

the hush sound: if you are reading this, i probably do not have to tell you how awesome they are. but ZOMG i love them. they're adorable and fun on stage and also just great live musicians. and they have a new member? this was unclear to me. bob introduced "mike, our new guy." whatever that means. he stayed very background anyway.

i don't really have it in me to work up a set list, but they played everything i really wanted to hear - love you much better, boys are too refined, honey, hurricane, as you cry... basically stuff off of goodbye blues. and more than that, of course. some of that on video -

love you much better

bob went solo on momentum and it was kind of a weak point. he mentioned his voice was dry but he seemed generally a little like he was maybe not feeling great and pushing to compensate. he was still good, just hitting the flat side of pitches and, idk, he seemed tired. poor bob.

and, of course, back in the ussr and you really got a hold on me. both so very awesome. it was especially great to have darren out from behind the drums. he really went at it... it kind of looks like drunken karaoke. but in a good way.

Actually, Cash's backpack was purple and had Hannah Montana on it. His Disney Princesses backpack is pink. This does not make him any less ridiculous.

i like ijce. it works for me. not quite as well as twssstb, but what could possibly be that good?

BRENDON/CASH. i'm always thinking, this is so obviously true expect for the part where they're so rarely in the same place. but NOW! SAME PLACE EVERY DAY FOR MONTHS! thank you, gerard way! (idk how, but it's obviously a result of gerard way's awesome benevolence.)

greta glows because she is made of magic.
