this is the post that never ends

(seriously, i think spent about an hour and a half writing this.)
ahhhh, lazy sunday morning. past noon and i'm still in pyjamas. this is good. i'm considering a second pot of coffee too. because yum.
yesterday was a lovely day all around. we went out for breakfast to a nearby cafe. i was not impressed with their scrambled tofu. but at least they offered it. vegans have a rough time going out for breakfast. and then we went to shelburne falls. just for fun. we strolled the bridge of flowers, went to mccusker's, looked at the glacial potholes. and saw some extremely cool glass-blowing. and it was nice out. and we stopped by a fabric store in greenfield on our way back. lovely. and then my dad came by and we went to the 'taste.' rach and i ate lots of fried things. oh, and some steamed dumplings from the tibetan restaurant that has yet to open but they were so delicious, i am even more excited for that restaurant now. and then we spent the rest of the night hanging around the house. we watched chicken run, i touched up my lj layout, rach sewed and i made these icons:

the last one there is for
mmm_cake, at her specific request. and the penultimate is my countdown icon. 5 days left of my evil temp job. 5! picture from the fantabulous movie, haiku tunnel.
ok, so. some more on last week.
we had a low-key weekend. saturday night we watched 13 going on 30 with
annelarissa,
scottxwl and J. it went a long way toward easing the slash withdrawal - teen angst plot lines, you know? and then on sunday... well. i had a few breakdowns. yeah. about more or less everything i could break down about. so much so that on monday i had a crying hangover - headache, nausea, the whole deal. i don't really want to go into the breakdowns any more than that but i'll say that they have led to some positive changes, so it wasn't all bad.
monday started santa's first week of vacation from the office. ahhhh. it really was far more pleasant without him there. less stressful, less noisy. nicer all around. E and i spent the first part of the day looking up the company's hiring policy to figure out if would could get boss!guy fired for not hiring the supposed lesbian. pretty much, no. which wasn't surprising to me, having edited enough of rach's labor law papers etc. but E was shocked. when reading boss!guy's mail (it's my job!) i found out that, yes, the woman is a lesbian. she mailed in an application on which she listed a woman as her partner. good for you, out lady. and then, later in the day, boss!guy hired her. good for you, asshole!
monday night was the lotr rehearsal about which i wrote. on tuesday, i discovered that the 'translation' we had been given was inadequate and sometimes inaccurate. i then spent about 6 hours at work on tuesday working on my own translation. with no small amount of help from elvish.org. it's no easy feat, going from the phoneticized elvish that's in the scores to elvish to english. but i got through most of it. and then continued to go over it all week, finding little spots that were particularly rough. and then, on friday, i found out that someone in the atlanta symphony chorus had already done exactly what i was doing. and had written it up and put it in a .pdf. d'oh.
but i'm glad i spent the time i did with it. i now know that the part i love so much - the choir part when the tower crumbles - quotes from a poem about frodo and sam. the words the choir sings as the tower falls are, "But I cannot let you/You cannot leave me." from this poem:
You want nothing more
Than this death.
I see it in your eye.
But I cannot let you
We have come too far
We have held on too long.
Reach! You cannot let go,
You cannot leave me.
oh my god, it breaks my heart. and there are so many other places. little bits of the boromir text that are inserted in gondor and faramir scenes. meep.
on wednesday, i was told tuesday would be my last day. i rejoiced. then i was told, no, wait, actually friday. i cried. on the inside, anyway. and then there was a beautifully awkward moment that went like this:
boss!guy: we'll miss you.
me: ..... ::weak smile::
i couldn't bring myself to lie. i wasn't about to say, 'i won't miss you, you homophobic asshole. your soul has been dead so long, i can smell the rot on your breath. life without you will be immeasurably better.' but that's what i was thinking.
the day picked up when
starbuckle and i went to see
scottxwl and
annelarissa's new apartment. it's lovely and large and i'm so very happy for them. i can't wait to see all the fun decorating they will do.
thursday night, i went out again with
starbuckle. earlier in the day, i had bumped into
fuschia on my way to the bank and she came too. and jenny's friends suzanne and amber were there. it was a great time. i got nice and drunk once again. and danced around like a fool. and, dude, dancing with jenny and fuschia is teh hott. also, suzanne and amber on their own are teh hott. i also really, really like that when they played 'maniac,' one of amber's dancer friends did the special dance.
and then, the best part of course, was the return of cowboy. he didn't show until about 1 am and we had begun to lose hope. but when they played, 'let's hear it for the boy,' there he was! but not in cowboy gear anymore. a new costume for him... though i don't know what to call this one. sort of an 80s bohemian look. but you could see his face better with this cap instead of the cowboy hat and man, he is hot. and! he was with the same guy he hooked up with last week. they tore up the floor once again. and fuschia, jenny and i drooled all over each other. rather obviously, i'd have to say, but i was drunk enough that i didn't care. and now i'm sober and i still don't care. they are hot. yes. and i'm looking forward to next week.
and now, even after being away, i have a few recs.
-i believe this was widely recced, but i'll just add mine in case you happened to miss it -
starbuckle's too hot to sleep, which i had the pleasure of beta-reading. it it trio smut. it. is. hot.
-
jjtaylor's sirius/remus based on a scene from a play about housman is here. it's really just beautifully devastating.
-jj also wrote take me - hermione/bellatrix smut that OMG is so incredibly hot. like... omg. hot.
-
madmadharri wrote make me a real boy - spike/andrew - and i, once again, had the great pleasure of beta-ing. this story is short and incredibly sweet. in a way that i really needed after the angel finale. it picks up right where the show left off and really just eases my mind with the possibilities it offers. also, it's spandrew. ♥
and i think that is all i have to say. phew.
