Have you ever introduced someone to slash and/or fanfic?
::cackles gleefully::
well, yes. camillafarfalla and harrimad_sol are my grand success stories - in that they are now just as (or, almost as) obsessed as i am. i just got to a certain point - when i finally got over the shame and then the embarrasment etc - when i figure there was no reason not to tell people. i don't tell people i work for - for, i think, obvious reasons - but friends and family mostly know what i'm up to. some don't care, some thinks it's weird but still don't really care, some think it's sort of sociologically interesting, some are mildy insterested and some, yes, are obsessed now too. i happen to have great, open-minded friends and family. but there's still a certain level of people i just don't know what to do with. like this J and A. they're more my gf's friends than mine. and they're both teachers and, like i said, bizarrely wholesome. i would tell them probably, if it came up again. but i can't really imagine their reactions.
if you're afraid someone would think you're wasting your time, you could always choose not to mention the amount of time you give it... present it as a wee hobby. though i suppose that might be lying. ;)
